Subscribed and waiting for more. Great ride, ain't it? I cant imagine a better route for adventure riding. JB One of Docking Pilot's original Forever West crew
Great to see more Adventure riders enjoying the Forever West route. Despite having literally thousands of pics of this route, I'm always anxious to see more.
Glad you guys found this. We sure did enjoy following your tracks. My only regret is we couldn't do the whole thing. John
That Versys is gnarly looking! I had heard of guys turning them into ADV bikes but had never seen the evidence. I test rode the exact bike this summer at the KAW demo days and really liked the bike. The only problem is that I'm inseam challenged, I'm way too tall. I fit perfectly on my KLR but many shorter riders don't. I loved the 6 speed and the engine is very stout. We need that engine in our KLR's! Darren
On day three we woke up to some clouds and humidity which made for a great sunrise. Time to load up for another day in paradise. Saddle up ladies! Let's ride! After leaving Red Canyon we hit the pavement for a short ways before turning off into the woods on Deep Creek Rd. This was a transition day where we shortcut the original route so eventually we had to hit the pavement again. Up to Mountain View and eventually Kemmerer. It was extremely windy, coming out of the west and made for an interesting run. Out of Kemmerer we headed north past Lake Viva Naughton onto Ham's Fork Rd. It threatened rain all day but other than a few sprinkles it never found us. Next up was Grays Fork Rd. Sedans?? Seriously who calls their car a sedan? Must be a regional thing but I thought it was funny. Gray's River Rd and the start of ---drum roll please--- Grays River! There was a sign saying "Watch Me Grow" which we didn't get a picture of not realizing the significance at the time. We stopped and talked to a really friendly ranger about the area and he directed us to a campground just below the sheep creek turnoff. We decided to go up Grays River instead around FS46 and McDougal because the area suffered a big fire earlier in the year. Fire restrictions limited fires to developed campgrounds and the threat of rain led us here. Supper A few sprinkles before bed and a shower in the night but nothing major. All in all another great day!! John
I'm ready to go back, in fact I wish I was still out there. Although I think they were expecting their first snowfall in some of the places we were. It's like the Swinging Bridges Ride, but with mountains. and you go for days..
