So what is the Adventure Cup competition & how does it work?

It's a scavenger hunt for new locations and things to see.. There are different levels and different points awarded. Those teams with the highest points wins bragging rights and other goodies. If you just want to ride so be it.

You get an included guide book and map from us.
This is the one from last year:

-Here are some easy (green trails) places to find with the included map:
    -Each is worth different points.
-You take a pic of this and Instragram the pic with a #hashtag to prove you were here.
    -You build points this way.
-You can also show your camera at the end to the judges to prove you made it to this spot. You are constantly riding new roads and finding new things.
-These points all add up and the team with the most wins! :clap

-Finally here is a sample of our map.
-You find as many points as possible and the team with the most points wins.
-Either way you are consonantly riding new roads and exploring new areas.
-It's an awesome way to explore an area!

There was a question posted in this thread about the rally:
    http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1052166

    Q:
"So how are the teams setup? I don't know anyone and only started riding a year ago, so not sure how many people would want to be on my team?"

    A:
Generally if we have a single rider we get their info, bike, experience, and try to match them with another single with similar bike and background. Thus far we have been fairly successful doing this.

A team must be at least 2. We have teams as large as 6, but I think that can be cumbersome. Most are 2-4. 2 is for basic rider safety, beyond that we are fairly loose.

    Hey Bill,

I'm definitely in on this. Just a couple questions. Please verify camping is TENT camping only? In other words can I camp in my Toy Hauler? Secondly, I'm not sure who I'll recruit on my team but I want to make sure I'm registered before this event fills up. IF I CANNOT CAMP IN MY TOY HAULER, then I would plan on a double room. But, since I'm not sure of my Team mate yet, I'm not sure what to do. Suggestions?

    Thanks!
    Pat

    Ok here is the deal.

There is a camping area set up at the Inn at Tomichi http://www.theinntv.com/ for the campers. The Inn is the basecamp where all the events happen.

If you want to bring a toy hauler and camp you would need to do that at another campground or for free in the N.F. as the Inn only wants campers or hotel users.

There are other confirmed attendees who are staying at the KOA http://koa.com/campgrounds/gunnison/ and paying for that on their own. They understand that they will be spending most of their time at the basecamp (meals, events, hangout etc.) at the Inn or riding and the KOA is just sleep time.

The fee ($360) is the same as camping at the hotel (even if you don't) as the hotel charges fees per person for total use of their facilities. I'm sorry they do not allow toy haulers in their parking area.

I hope that all makes sense.

    Thanks, Bill

    Just got some new info:

On the sponsor front we have Motion Pro signed back up as a sponsor. They will be presenting the Motion Pro Tire Change Challenge. The winning team will get some very cool tools! No doubt they will include some additional swell swag. :clap

Our friends from Glenfiddich Single Malt Whisky have come on board to be the Post Ride Reflections sponsor. Basically the team with the best story from the day's ride will earn additional bonus points, and something to wet their whistle! :freaky
