I'm in Red Neck Deer but have decided this is my Saskatchewan year. I'm mountained out for a bit and need some elbow room. I'm going east most weekends I can manage this year with my camera tacking on a Friday or Monday or both for extra time.

I'd be open to any get togethers, and suggestions on camp grounds, motels, interesting places.

Rocanville, Saskatchewan. I ride a XR650R Supermoto, and there just might be a Guzzi in my future....

    Nice to hear from you.

How did you ever plate a XR650R?? Did you do it before last year? Must have, cause I looked into it last year and SGI is absolutely not letting people convert non road going vehicles for road use anymore. I know of one guy in Moose Jaw who has a plated XR650R & one who bought one from Alberta that had been plated there, but good luck getting it registered here. Also know of one guy here in Regina that has a DRZ400E imported from the States that he managed to get plated back in the 2008 season as well, before the Nazis at SGI cracked down.

    Lucky bastard!!

Do you work at the potash mine out that way? I've got a couple of cousins working there. They're from St. Lazare - just across the border in Manitoba.

I'd like to take a Dual-Sport trip out that way sometime, got it layed out on my GPS and all, just gotta make some time to do it.

    Take care,

I currently don't own an offroad or dual purpose bike. Years ago had XT500 Yamaha and a couple of others but just stick to riding on the road these days.

I'm actually just getting down to one bike, R1100r as the fellow that bought my 77 GL1000 is supposed to pick it up today.

About 5 yrs ago I was looking for a big displacement dual purpose just for knocking around, but got into restoring street bikes so it never happened. Who knows maybe that will be my next project.

I actually got the bike plated last summer. All I had to do was get the proper form from SGI, have a shop inspect the road-going gear I installed, send the paper back to SGI, go down to my SGI broker and purchase my plate. The disgusting thing is that anything over 400cc costs the same amount to insure, so my invincible XR650R costs the same as a Ducati Desmosedcici RR. Unfair!

I do work at the Mine and I likely know all your relatives!

    Nice to know you.

You should take that KLR and ride it someplace exotic, like Alaska!

I'm in Saskatoon on an 08 KLR.

Its great to see spring come a little early. Plan to plate up after this weekend. Then we will get the next snow storm.

We have a group of dual sporters around Sask in a forum Saskatchewan Dual Sport Club.

Might want to check it out.

Going to try to get my DR650 out this coming week!

Kudos to whowever started up that site - I'm a member/lurker there since late last season (same username). I'm hoping it'll bring a few of us together - I'm in Regina & I'd like to participage in a few rides up north this summer & meet some of the guys in Saskatoon, P.A. & the like. I would probably try and bring a few of my fellow riders with me too.

In case someone hasn't found it yet, check it out here:

See you on (or off...) the road!
