We have a pair of Answer boots with broken latches. The boots look like this. The broken parts look like this. I called the Answer people and they couldn't supply the parts or suggest a source. Does anyone have a source for these or similar ones that could be modified to work? I'm considering fabbing some metal loops and riveting them to the "adjusting" strap. If anyone has done this I'd be interested in what they did and how it worked.
You can always look at other brand boots and see if any of the hardware matches. If they look like they would work, you can see if they sell the hardware. Aerostich sells replacement buckles, but they don't look like yours. You can also look at Inline Skate buckles/latches. They're basically boots with wheels underneath. Some of the high end ones have replacement parts available to the consumer. Good luck.
Thanks for the suggestion. I hadn't thought of inline skates. I might be able to find them locally. I'll try that. As far as other brands of boots, it's a 150 mile round trip to the nearest shop that has an assortment of boots, so I was hoping someone here would have some they could suggest.
Check out Motonation website. This is where Inmates that want to switch their CBT boots from velcro to buckles buy them. Should you check them out and think this would work for you get with me. I have four new sets still in the plastic. I was going to use them on a pair of CBT, but never got around to it. I will make you a good deal.
If you want to change buckles there are a number of places to get them. Waterski binding maker in canada Fluid Motion sells buckles. Also http://www.ratchetingbuckles.com/ratcheting-buckles/1-0-ratcheting-buckles/ And also manufacturers and a few other good places exist if you need some lines on this.
