Thanks for that scientific review of them being "hot."

Did anyone else get this invite? I can't imagine I'm the only one since it was just sent to my gmail account.

Is he raving about them being better in the dirt or on pavement?

I just read that Shawn Thomas (one of the lucky guys from Rawhyde that was part of the South Africa launch) has been selected to be part of this tour. He just announced it on Facebook and he just started this new thread.

    :huh

Well this is the best info I could find currently. I never claimed any (to the level of scientific) tire expertise.

Maybe you didn't like my syntax or choice of words. Sorry for not having English as my first language.

I am sure you will do better as it is obvious from your major contributions to this forum. Let us know when you have more data about the tires ok? :deal

Nice! You guys overseas are lucky. :)
Shawn (who was in South Africa during the launch) will be taking active part in this. Make sure to subscribe here:

The only objective review is the one you do yourself.
Best would be to have the KTM1190, Triumph Explorer and the new 1200GS side by side.
I guess that wouldn't be a manufacturer sponsored event :D

I got it as well. I may go to this open house instead of my local dealer

Combination of dirt/gravel roads and "paved" goaty backroads in the Santa Cruz mountains (the term 'paved' is used very loosely to describe some of those roads :rofl)

Honz @ Gateway BMW in St. Louis, MO, is running the Anakee 3's and is happy so far with there performance. He said the hook up decently in the gravel and might but them above the Tourance in that peformance realm.

I've always been very impressed with my Anakee 2's, so if the 3's are an improvement, bring it on:evil

People getting the bike give a "rip". It is one of the OE tires and is a new tire offering so it is pertinent to the discussion.

Is there an agreement on the "best" tire for the new GS for mainly on-road usage?

I don't think you'll ever get an agreement on tires. I liked the Conti Road Attack 2 on my old GS. Worked great for me.

I think I'd go for the Metzeler if I could choose:
"Metzeler have launched their third-generation street enduro Tourance Next tyres, which are fitted to the new BMW R1200GS. Sizes are 120/70 R19 and 170/60 R17"

What's the best kind of blinker fluid for the new GS? Synthetic?
