I had no Idea where to put this thread, but I thought you guys might like to see my latest project. It is the combination of and xs400 and an xs350. It will be my fun bike for this coming summer. Here are a few pictures of my latest progress. Thanks for looking, and I would love to know your opinions. -MF

    Looks like a cool project!
May I suggest you edit your post and stack the pics vertically, it is much easier to see to just scroll down.

Thanks! I spent a lot of time working on the bike today, but it doesn't show. It took me about 5 hours to get the stinking 1 into 2 throttle cable cut/soldered and adjusted. I guess it had to be done. I will start working on the rear disk brake/wheel conversion in the next few days. I also need to finish the exhaust. it is about ready to fire up. I have spark! I would add pictures but there's not much to see today.

In the previous pictures I was using the old axle that was too small. After a few minutes in the magic laboratory and POW the swing arm and chain adjusters accept the bigger YZ axle. Looks like the caliper will slip into place just fine. Next I will be working on the chain alignment then I can turn the spacers on the lathe. Another plus is the fact that the yz wheel feels like it must weigh 5 pounds less than the xt wheel. A lot of that could be the big ol' DOT tire too.

Justin, I'm glad you approve. :) I whipped up some wheel spacers and washers for the axle. Took care of the sprocket and rotor line-up. If anyone wants to do a rear disc swap on their XT350, this is the way to go. It seems almost to easy. Tomorrow I will start working on the master cylinder and foot lever. I am procrastinating on doing the exhaust. I just don't know where or how to get the bends i need to clear the front tire and frame. I am trying not to spend much more on the bike, so I need to get clever now.

I started machining some bits to mount the rear brake lever. The shaft will get cut to the correct length then welded from the back side. Next I will be making the master cylinder mount. So far so good [IMG]
