XC Rider & Crew tackle the COBDR and the TAT in REVERSE (from Moab, back to Virginia)

So here I go again on another little trip. The last two years have been rather uneventful for me as I was working and saving so as to leave for a RTW trip this fall. However, as things usually go, unexpected changes (in the form of a good job) came up and the RTW trip was shelved for the time being. However, in the midst of the move & change in job, I decided to carve out a little time to do a trip this summer. At first I was thinking about riding up to Nova Scotia & Newfoundland solo, but then some friends of mine invited me to join them on their trip out to Colorado & Utah; these are the same two guys that joined me and my dad when we rode a good portion of the TAT back in 2011. So as it turns out, tomorrow morning, four of us will be trucking our bikes out to Colorado where we'll then ride the Colorado Backcountry Discovery Route (CODBR) from Silverthorne down to Four Corners. From there we'll loop up to Moab, UT and spend a few days in Moab, and finally we'll ride the TAT back east from Moab!

So here we are less than 24hrs before we leave; bikes are packed up in trucks & trailers, ready to roll. Just a little last minute packing of this, that, and the other (electrical & camera gear for me). Then we hit the road at 5am tomorrow morning!

I'll be doing my best to update the ride report while we're on the road; however, if I don't post for a day or two, it simply because I don't have an internet connection or I'm too beat. I've always enjoyed doing these ride reports, and have loved all the comments that people have posted. I hope to see a lot of old friends post up, and look forward to making new friends in the process. Thanks for looking in, and I promise THERE WILL BE PICTURES!

One question; Doesn't the TAT have a one-direction (east to west) only rule? I thought I read that somewhere.

Sam, the guy that routed the TAT, routed his charts to go from east to west. But west to east can definitely be done. There are quite a few RR's from guys that did it "backwards". You just can't use his roll charts. I think it adds to the adventure. I know I'm definitely jealous of Dennis and gang!

Just a quick post to say we're on the road and just crossed into WV!



Changed the Spot Tracker link from Spotwalla to the normal Spot Tracker page as for some reason the two aren't talking to each other right now ( I probably screwed something up when setting it up last night). Will get it straightened later I hope.

Will post up more & reply to comments when we stop for lunch or tonight.
