Where would be the recommended place to order or buy knobbies for my 77 K-1000? Getting a spare set of wheels from a friend to mount the knobbies on so I don't have to damage my cast wheels. Also, what - where do I find the butt cheeks support Doc told me about that uses 2 liter pop bottles of extra gas? He tole me once but I lost the paper and I can't remember. Prolly going to lose the faring/windshield some fender stuff and put a splash deflector on the bottom of a sorta front fender to keep rocks & water off me and the engine from the front wheel .. So what is the favorite place to spend the $$$$?
I've been buying my internet tires from DennisKirk.com If you go over $100 shipping is free. There is a $5 per tire charge for some reason though.
Yeah.... But I'm 66 yr old and weigh 350#...... So a 650 you say and Zfish knows of one in KCK for $800 but still prolly got to buy tires an ???? Front & rear tires + tubes for $160 - $200 total for the Kaw. I can sew up a sweet cheeks myself with material at hand I think. No tag, tax or Ins. to buy. I do not plan to wheelie through creeks or do 'trials' on big rocks nor drag it over dead falls. I am getting the extra wheels for free and hope to have a cheap bash plate made up. Plus I live 3 hours from where Doc & the guys ride and I look really silly on a 250 even though they will carry me but jeez, that would be really embariskin..... Will mostly ride South of the Arkansas River unless I can overnight up there some. Really kinda far for a day trip for this old man. Living on Social Security means I have to plan & figure & work around & scrounge and stuff & such. LOL :huh Maybe some day if the wife gets lucky with the Lotto......
I just ordered a new IRC TR1 from these folks. http://www.americanmototire.com/catalog/ First order so we'll see how it goes. I like Rockymountainatv too. Ok where do I find those mirrors that will fold flat? I broke mine some hold last weekend. Sorry for the Highjack DragQueen.
My first dual sport tire order was from American but after paying with credit card I found out the tires were out of stock, three days later. Sort of a hassle to get it credited back to me and that was my last order with them. I started using Dennis Kirk because it shows how many tires of the type I am looking at BEFORE ordering. Peace of mind to me that I know the tire will ship and if ordered before a certain time of day it will ship that day. No affiliation...blah, blah, blah.
Cyclegear in Little Rock has competitive prices. Dwight at Mainline Cycle used to keep a pretty good variety of tires too.
Well..... Dragon overpaid his last bill in my shop and told me to spend it on my trip to Colorado... So I kinda owe him.
