I had a the same happen to me with my 650. "You want a what?" :huh The first dealer I went to adamantly stated "Kawasaki doesn't make a 650..." I just walked out.
Leo Vince has a couple of different offerings, I think Akra does too. An upswept one with similar angle to the oem exhaust and a lower slung one if you're using the Givi V35's. ...and no way is the Muzzy sexier than the Akra or LV. It looks like every other canister out there... the upswept Leo or Akra are very nice looking. Even the Two Bros is a good looking pipe Leo Vince http://www.leovince.com/en/catalog-...i_passaggio_standard_z_1000_sx_i_e_2011/14287 http://www.leovince.com/en/catalog-...i_passaggio_standard_z_1000_sx_i_e_2011/14286 http://www.leovince.com/en/catalog-...i_passaggio_standard_z_1000_sx_i_e_2011/14284
Thats why I left Dairyland. With these prices for sportbikes, my insurance lady said she saved me enough to buy another bike.
Personally, I'm old school. Nothing more I love than a sweet looking pipe across the rear of the bike complimenting the rear lines of the tail section. Unless the bike has a single sided swing arm, than I prefer an under tail or belly exhaust. For this reason I am more partial towards the Muzzy than the Akra. Lower MotoGP style exhausts are ugly, in my opinion. Looks too much like every other bike recently with these belly pan exhausts. I like the look of an exhaust pipe so I don't want to hide it. Good thing there is an exhaust offering for everyone's taste! Lou
Great ride today, and finally able to ride the bike the way I want and the way it was intended... I also got to ride Scot Forry's modified Z1000 (Akro full system, custom tune) and Barry B.s 150WHP C14. Man I'm loving this N1K. It does it all well, and it handles well in aggressive sport riding situations. Very pleased with the product at this point. Mike
Bit of time ont the ninja 1000 today bolting up goodies. Akrapovic 4-1, fender elimaintor, gear position indicator, heated grips, air injection block off plates and a 02 optimiser. Looks much better... ..and some time on the dyno confirms it goes alot better Blue = Stock bike Red = Akra 4-1 Green = Akra 4-1 and no air box lid 150+hp aint bad on a dyno that usually reads low in comparison to other dynos. Looking forward to spending a bit more dyno time finding the restriction to flow in the airbox and eliminating it. Tuning it with a power commander should net a little more as well
Damn... 151 at the wheel... Thats NIIIICE! Yesterday when I rode Scot's Z1000 and he rode my N1K his exact words to me were "Don't touch it. I spent a lot of money on mine and I'm not sure it was worth the results". That said, his Akro full exhaust sounded great and I did like the way his PC5/blockoff mods cleaned up the throttle and made it more snappy. I'll probably send my PCM out for a tune to get rid of the fuel cutout and do a full exhaust swap. Maybe do the box/blockoff, but that'll probably be it. Mike
Bought the Cali. Sci. windshield, no matter how I adjust the master cyclinder it still touches it. Helps with the cooler temps and bugs.
You snuck a Z1000 into this thread! Just kidding, looks nice with the "touring" windshield. The Cal Sci Tech windshield for the Ninja 1000 looks like the windshield of a car. Huge. Lou
Stock these bikes are about 125 rwhp, so I don't think this dyno reads low. Also, make sure you won't end up with a high AFR, it will register more power, but with increased engine wear due to a lean mixture. Very nice bike by the way, It is on top of my wish list!
Scot has Carrozzeria rims on his bike. Probably affects the feel quite a bit. Was good to get out and ride. Barry
No way a Ninja 1000 pulls 151 real world rwhp and that too without a fuel controller. That dyno is very optimistic to say the least... the most pulls I have seen are around 140-141 hp including those of Ivans ....
