    Well it is upon us.

Ill start with my Michigan Tech Huskies opening 4-0, with a sweep American International and Wisconsin. Both games with Wisconsin were overtime wins.

By starting 4-0, they have matched last years win total. :lol3

Maybe this new coach thing will turn out well :clap

    How are your teams looking???

My man at Air Force says they are looking good. :thumb Last year's team had lot's of potential, but sucked at consistency. Hopefully that won't happen this year.

Hard to say yet - definetly a power play by the big schools going to a Big 10 conference. Good possibility of marginalizing the conference since the meat of the CCHA left and WCHA picked up the scraps. Still has some quality teams, but I think it could hurt recruiting. CCHA and WCHA had a good thing going with a good mix of big and small schools. Now we get a big 10 conference and a group of little guys, giving more power to the "prestigious" conference. Similar to the SEC / Mountain West. Good schools in the MW that get no respect b/c of perceived weak schedules. Lucky for us there is a playoff system like any reasonable sport would have :freaky

however, I believe we will now get a couple extra chances to beat Northern Michigan every year - Fuck Northern!

Gophers with a big sweep last weekend on defending champion UMD.

Head Coach Lucia admitted they needed to make a change in recruiting, too many one or two season players leaving early to go pro. New freshman and sophomores played with some serious grit, a nice change from the soft teams even since the championship years early last decade.

    Go GOPHERS!!!

I am still a bit upset that Michigan lost to those blondes from Duluth last year.

I had naively assumed that hockey would escape the football-style money grab that is college sports.

-The Big 10 hockey conference is will have clear winners and losers for the first few years, with Penn State's new club and Ohio State struggling.
-The as-yet unnamed other conference with the colorado schools, NoDak, Duluth, Omaha, etc. will be competitive
-The remaining CCHA and WCHA teams, including both Alaskas, will have a hell of a time remaining financially viable in Div-I.

I have a hard time seeing this as 'good' for college hockey. :nah

Gophs are 4-0 in WCHA road games and 7-1 overall. Very young team with a senior goalie, will be interesting to see the polls this week. :evil

I'm going to have to call my former boss, he's a Tech fan. He'll be stoked--- don't know how closely he follows at this point in the season. (Being in exile here in NM)

The U invented cheerleading in 1898. They take it pretty seriously. The hockey cheer squad sit in the aisles, and then get up during stoppages to lead cheers. They go out on the ice between periods, shoot t-shirts with Goldie, do little performances, and usually one falls down. :lol3

Also, when they run up the stairs to change sections of the arena, the whole student section chants 'hup - hup - hup - hup' with their steps as they take doubles up the stairs. Usually a token chubby one falls behind and is ridiculed. :cry
