I am having to buy some new gear due to a little low side about 6 weeks ago (the collar bone has healed and I am ready to ride!) but theproblem is winter is here in full force. Got a new jacket and Bell Star Helmet (fantastic helmet, btw) and now I need some pants due to the gapping hole in my old Tourmaster overpants. I am thinking of some of the Fieldsheer Mercury pants at MotorcyleCloseouts and I was also going to pickup a pair of the Firstgear heated pant liners. Can I wear them under my normal office pants (khakis, Dockers, etc) and not get too hot in an office? They are advertised as "temperature neutral" on the website. And how bulky/comfortable are they? And while I'm at it how well do the heated glove liners from Gerbings work? Do they really fit well under gloves? Thanks for the help!
Well, you don't want any heated gear directly against skin(to avoid burns),so wear the heated liner over the office pants and under your riding pants. You will take off the pants and heated liner at the office, unless you really like the look of black nylon! The heated liners that I've seen,Warm n Safe,Gerbing,Firstgear(made by Warm n safe) and Widder(sadly out of business) all did not have good breathabilty,so would be pretty sweaty to wear at work. Ok then I guess I am a little confused. It sounds like from what i can tell these things are suuposed to be form fitting. And I know with my jacket liner you absolutley want it as close to your skin as possible. In fact I normally just wear a t-shirt or a thin office shirt. Wearing it over a sweat shirt or heavy shirt doesn't allow the heat to transfer. From the revzilla website: Form fitting, close for optimum heat transfer to body. Spandex fabric allows full range of movement for any activity and fits easily under your outer garments Anti-bacterial treatment prevents odors and moisture management wicks moisture away from skin Liner is rated at 35 watts at 12.8 volts Liner packs into its included zipper pouch Integrated jacket and sock plugs stow into zippered pockets when not in use Coaxial plugs engineered by us for the best connection Dual zone heating: this garment may be used with either a single or dual heat- troller with no re-wiring Designed to be plugged into a DC power source or battery pack Does anyone wear it under their pants? If not how well does it fit over your pants? As far as sizing do you size for your normal clothes or one size up to accomodate pants? Thanks
Sorry, should have looked first. Had not seen those before. Yes,you would wear those next to skin. Thought you were talking about something similar to this, that is worn under pants, but over a light layer: http://www.gerbing.com/Products/Liners/heatedPantsLiner.html Anyone have the new Warm n Safe or Firstgear liners boother is asking about? You want the pant liner close to your skin for best heat transfer. Here's some more info on them Warm & Safe makes First gear heated clothing http://www.12voltclothing.com/HEATED_PANTS_LINERS.html
Thanks Heated-Gear-Guy! Back back to my question: How do they do under slacks, dockers, jeans, etc? Are they about like long johns? Are they going to be comfortable?
So, anybody have any good advice for heated pant liners? There are a few brands out there but not really any comparisons. I'd like a pair that are more like long underwear so I can wear jeans or riding pants over them. Any first hand experiences as t what works best?
