I'm looking closely at the new AS Toucan. http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/alpinestars-toucan-gtx-boots
HMM now I am officially confused. The tech 7's are unusable for me, so I stated thinking comfort. The oiled balance or adventure gortex looked like good options until I ran acroos your thread from 2 years ago. I am scared to pull the trigger on the crossfires because I want to be able to shift but also have protection. What size feet do you have? Any trouble shifting? Not I am worried that the two options will not have enough protection
I use these, Love em. http://www.motorcyclecloseouts.com/...l+sport+gear&gclid=COTD5KXurbUCFUiRPAod5WIAsw
I use Aerostich combat tourers for regular mixed dirt/tarmac riding. I use Gaerne SG10's for when I'm actually riding goat trails or doing anything silly. full motocross. Which required the installation of this: Which has to do with both the size and stiffness of the boot and, maybe most of all, this:
I also use the Sidi Adventure Rain. I've had my foot pinned under the bike in more than one awkward get-off, and never had any issues. Only "problems" I have with the boots is that I had to install a longer shifter (I wear a US size 12), and the lack of any sort of "feel" with the boot essentially turns the rear brake into an on/off switch :eek1
I have 20,000 miles and a lot of " proper'' offroad on the "cheap Lorica ones " . When they wear out I will go out and look for the latest and greatest .
18,000 miles ridden in Sidi Adventure Rains (the cheap ones....haha) Great support and protection. Ride on the GSA and DR650SE. Miles and miles and miles in rain and dry feet. Wading out many shallow creeks and streams and mud holes checking out crossing path and still dry feet. Very comfortable out of the box. Only issue was them squeeking a whole bunch, nothing a little WD-40 didn't cure!! I will buy them again if and when I ever these ones now out!!!
Looking to get a pair of these but am unsure how much protection they provide. Lots of praise about how comfortable they are to walk in but how stiff is the sole and how good is the ankle protection? I am currently wearing Fox F3 and while they are comfortable, they are also a full MX boot so very stiff and miserable to walk in. Fox boots seem to fit me very well, at least the two pairs I have owned. I have a R1100gs and KTM 530EXC so looking for something that is good for both for the less serious riding.
I have the Sidi Adventure Rains too. Great protection, dry feet, excellent for walking -not too stiff but great for a day standing on the pegs. One downside is that Motonation is the only place I've found to get parts and they don't seem to stock what I need.
