    Ride this weekend.

Friends and family in NY make comments like "You're crazy for paying what you pay to live in California!!"

    They don't ride motorcycles.

This is 30 miles from my front door and I find that worth the cost of entry to my overpriced home. :1drink

Great r/r You may not like fall but I find fall tends to bring what I call "golden rides" more then any other time of year.

    Thanks :)

    It's not that I don't like fall, it's that I don't like what comes after. . .

Aww man. I wish insurance in Canada wasn't so pricey! I don't wanna sell my KTM now, but I already bought a CBR 929 to replace it with. The KTM doesn't do as well on long sport tours for me...and it doesn't like my single wheeled trailer very much over 70-75 mph either. Aggressive geometery maybe? .....and what with no wind protection and an awful seat......but whatthe 950SM does do well, it does VERY WELL! I took it to Deals Gap again this weekend....and even on Bridgstone 023 sport touring tires, pegs were dragging everywhere, even at 90 mph on the CHerohala Skyway, it took a Ducati 1198 on Pirelli Rossos piloted by a guy I race with, to get by the KTM. This bike flat out kills any other bike I have ridden, when it gets twisty and technical, sub 80 mph. And it inspires so much confidence, and the brakes are the best I have ever sampled.
I had an incredible long weekend with the bike.

    Damnit damnit.

I love my FZ1, but I read about 100 pages of this and NEED at 950SM/R!!

It's looks like the prefect mix between my bike and a Husky 610 (which I don't think will take the 300+ days that I do).

It is and that is why I bought mine..progression was XR650L SM ( and $5,000 in aftermarket parts) to XR650R SM ( $6,000 in atermarket parts to FS650C Husaberg SM ( and oil changes every 2 hours) to KTM 950 SM. An SM I can ride all day including to and from the twisties.

yup...that's why i bought mine. my previous bike was a ktm 625smc, which was perfect for the twisties, but i wanted something with a little more hp for those times when i need to drone of the highway for 1-2 hrs to get to/from the good twisty stuff.

I sold a pair of bikes to buy my SMR: a 2005 Kawi 636 sport bike and a 2004 Suzuki DL650. I figured the SMR combined the sportiness of the Kawi with the versatility of the Strom.

'89 Suzuki DR 750 -- the Doctor Big. Single cylinder PD replica thingy. Useless off-road, but unique and fun. Bought it new in '90 and kept it until 07 when I bought the SM.
