You got it. The '07 30 hour was my introduction to endurance rallies. George puts on a very enjoyable event. I kept the sticker on the bike for over a year - kind of like leaving the last lift ticket on one's ski jacket, I guess. Wish I could do the 5-day next year but the whole SPANK/IBA National/IBR5k thing couldn't be happening at a worse time for my schedule. Oh, back on topic......
Here's my SilverSTreak, about 20 miles east of Wendover UT on "Frontage Rd" paralleling I-80 on what was once part of the Lincoln Highway. She's only got 205,000 miles on her in this picture For Tracks and Trip details see: http://www.silverstreakst.net/Trips%20and%20Tracks/Lincoln%20Highway/LH%20Tour.htm
A flock of STs on their way to Minden, NV for a Westoc. <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/kL7FAo2My6wpeHR7aGfRNA?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_pQhZNLDMehw/Rry997yxTVI/AAAAAAAAAWI/3thdNPCDnS8/s400/PA15171500526.jpg" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/PowersHouse/WeSTOCIX?feat=embedwebsite">WeSTOC IX</a></td></tr></table> While at Westoc, I took a "shortcut" between passes from 88 to 4. I went through Railroad Flat and along Summit Level Road. It would have been a wonderful ride on my KLR, but on the ST there was a significant pucker factor. :eek1 <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/BbMStFaqUlXzBt9KqQVc9g?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_pQhZNLDMehw/Rry9V7yxTRI/AAAAAAAAAVM/RSrhlifRB9s/s400/PA15171500534.jpg" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/PowersHouse/WeSTOCIX?feat=embedwebsite">WeSTOC IX</a></td></tr></table> Since then, I've sold my black 91 and purchased a 96 ABS model. I found a matching Honda top box for it, which I like because it is a lower profile than the Givi boxes. I'd still like to find a laminar shield to stick on. <table style="width:auto;"><tr><td><a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/lh/photo/szSXU4pGavkP9qAWcKMogw?feat=embedwebsite"><img src="http://lh5.ggpht.com/_pQhZNLDMehw/Ru7IrznbCZI/AAAAAAAAAjo/BeHaj2kX4vk/s400/DSCN1134.JPG" /></a></td></tr><tr><td style="font-family:arial,sans-serif; font-size:11px; text-align:right">From <a href="http://picasaweb.google.com/PowersHouse/WiSTOC?feat=embedwebsite">WiSTOC</a></td></tr></table>
Heres a recent shot of our 97 1100..http://www.advrider.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=221464&stc=1&d=1260113121
Great shot. The Furkapass is a fun road, and you have the Nufenenpass, and Sustenpass nearby. That is a good day of riding...
from my friend who is standing next to his bike in this pic. Taken last May on our way to Miller Motorsports Park to see the World Superbike races. Patrick's last ride.
This is still a favorite of ours. It's hard to get a picture of the faster blue model - but we managed. This was at Mabry Mill on the Blue Ridge Parkway. It actually got printed on the back page of Roadrunner 12/2008 - so that is our 10 minutes of fame.
Don't know how I've missed this thread (too much time at ST-Owners I guess.) I have two 91 ST1100s, black and silver. They have about 360,000 miles between them. Both are down, silver for major maintenance including water pump, idler pulley, timing belt, and steering head bearings. She was running fine but miles do build up. Bought her in '93 with 23K miles. The black one is on life support, crack in the block resulting in major coolant leak. Donor motor has been sourced but not shipped yet. Anyone else hear of such a failure? I know of one other, virtually identical to mine. Crack is from the right rear of the block, almost horizontal around the corner to the right side then up all the way to the head gasket. Got her in '04 as a total for $875, <30K miles. I put 140K on her since, til the block cracked last month. <heavy sigh!> I figure to fix it right would require pulling the motor anyway, so a more fresh motor makes more sense. I'm getting one cheap with only ~30,000 miles from a 96. Just to keep the ADV aspect in focus, I've ridden my STs on roads for which they were never intended. A couple years ago, I took the silver one over Strawberry Pass between Lake City and Silverton, CO. East side was tuff, west side not bad. I've got pics here somewhere if anyone is interested.
My bad, it's Cinnamon, not Strawberry, Pass. Taken just before WeSTOC XIII in Golden a couple years back. There's a bunch more pics here. http://good-times.webshots.com/photo/2171406050052831307YRkKwa Hmmm, links don't go hot. Wazzup wi'dat? Oh, it works once I've submitted. (Best Rosanna voice: "Never mind.")
Cool. Odd paint job there on the ST. Also, who is Linda and how can i convince her that she needs to give me her Varadero?
