I received a GoPro for Christmas; what is the best place on the helmet to mount it? My concerns are to minimize visor interference but not be too exposed to branches.
Hmm...that's not a bad idea! I hadn't even considered that. And because I have a modular, I could flip up the chin bar for a different perpective.[emoji122]
When I got my GoPro I had a few requirements for a helmet mount. I wanted it centered on my helmet somewhere. I wanted to avoid branches hitting it. I wanted little or none of the helmet to be in the video. I wanted it protected from the elements as much as possible. And if possible I wanted to be able to see when it was on. Here's what I came up with and it accomplishes all 5. I didn't like the goofy look of the visor in other "under the visor" mounts I saw on line, so I modified mine so the visor is in a normal position.
Stole this idea from a YouTube video today and tested it. Works well for a modular helmet. You will need the gopro helmet front mount and side mount, used some m5-20 socket heads to clean it up.
time to get creative.... https://www.google.com/search?q=gop...ved=0CDoQyjc&ei=kfGjVN_SJsyfggThrIPwDg#imgdii=_
Got one for Christmas too- looking to mount it somewhere on the bike with good overall perspective. Was thinking of the rear aeat with a three way extension arm
I wound up with the Proshot . It's quite well made and the 'velcro' it comes with is pretty stout...the camera doesn't move a bit. Now if the weather would co-operate...
I got a Proshot too, but haven't installed it yet. I have tried side and top mounting as well as on the handlbar. Even stuck a base to the front of my 1100GS windscreen but it was difficult to manage the camera while riding.
Very cool chin bar ! Have you considered 3M Dual Lock instead of Velcro? Dual lock doesn't get fuzy and the hold is very solid.
