No, once you get past the bead breaking it's just like any other tire. I have not changed one along side the road. I use a Coats 220 for tire changes at home.
Really wasn't that bad....used Motion Pro's new bead breaker gadget and good tire irons and lotsa lube (soapy water). Probably only my third time to ever change a bike tire!
Indeed, make sure the tire is a bit warmer. Changing a tire when it's freezing is a PITA as the rubber becomes less flexible. To break the bead i use my biggest tire iron and put it on the edge of the bead, then squad hold the iron with both hands and push on the iron while lifting myself up off the ground and putting all my 100kg's on the tire. Might look a bit weird but it works.
That statement has some truth in it. But breaking the bead or changing it when it's freezing cold is not always piss easy.
Have to say that once with a 130/60/17 Shinko on my DR650 i must have done every possible thing wrong.
Actually, it is not so bad... There was a video somewhere around here breaking the bead with three small tyre irons and yes, it works also w. Scorpions / 990 wheels.
Changed many a tube on a trail on a dirt bike and quite a few tires in the garage. Actually, unfortunately I'm the person everyone comes to in this regard. I may just have the dealer do this one. They don't charge much... like $20.
The K60 is horribly hard to take off cold.... Breaking the bead is.... Mind boggling hard. The scorpion is easy in comparison.
Yup... Got a flat this summer in NC on a 100deg day. Rode the flat K60 about 5 miles to get of the highway so it was plenty warm. I tried every trick in the book to get the bead broken,,, side stand, 3 tire irons, etc...... not even a hint of breaking the bead. Ended up going McGuyver on it....
Ah, here it is, i had no problems using this technique: http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=458452
There all easy including a Karoo. Side Stand or Motion Pro Bead Breaker. Even cold (and in cold weather). Once the bead is broken these are actually easier to do than bikes with 2.5" rims. The new tire goes on so easily.
