has anyone fit one of ernie's engine plates with a remus header? mine doesn't want to fit.

i assumed the remus headers followed the same path as the oem pipes but it appears they are wider.

Yes...Just bend the sides out a little....no problem....you could take a couple of pieces of strap steel, angle iron, etc, clamp with c-clamps or vice grips and bend uniformly...I took the crude approach of using a rubber mallet. I like the "Ridden and Used" look. Worked fine.

I fit my Ernie's plate on my R1200GS, which has a full Remus setup. While the plate sides come close to the header pipes, they don't touch. At first, I thought I would have a problem, but it bolted up okay with no modification.

My only regret is that the front plate lip doesn't come up higher - I no longer have a cross-over pipe there! Due to the welds, I am not inclined to try to bend that front lip upwards.

    Good luck!

I'm in the market for a f650GS engine skidplate that provides some degree of case protection. I'd really like to run my GS without the heavy tubular BMW engine bars but the stock skidplate doesn't provide much protection, especially for the cases. A small toolkit receptacle on the front would also be a nice touch.

Well, It might be a while before I can make a skidplate for the new X bike. I live near LaCrosse Wisconsin and we've never had a BMW dwealership so even seeing a Beemer in our area is rare. If a local X bike owner looks me up I'd sure like to take a crack at it. Ernie

Hey Tim and Marty, I got your fuel cells all ready to go for the iron butt. Also have two sets of skidplates set aside for you as well. Give me a shout and we'll get together for the installation. Thanks Ernie

I would like to get one, my only concern is I installed Remus full system on my HP2, will it still fit? I think Remus header pipes are a bit wider....
    Anybody has a similar set-up?

    Thanks!

H CarbonCat, I have run into the HP2 with Remus exhaust. I make the skidplate 1/2" wider to compensate for the extra width. Let me know if you would like one. Ernie dakotabeemer@hotmail.com
