Middle Aged? Hardly!! Middle Aged would be 150,000 miles. Yours is almost at her prime.

+1! 50 K is just run in on one of these bikes. I have friends with 300 & 400 K miles on their bikes and they run just as good as new.

Refinished my System Case doors with a spray-on bedliner. The rough finish really hides the scars in the plastic well, and I prefer this finish to the shiny finish they had when I bought the bike. Also performed most of a major service myself; Alternator belt, air filter, oil, gearbox, and final drive fluid changes, and an oil sight glass replacement. Still have to check valve clearances, change the fuel filter, and do a carb sync. Had to wait until this weekend to do the valve adjustment, as I was waiting on a BMW spark plug wrench I ordered.

    Nice ride!

It's a bit after the fact but you can pull them with a good zip tie and a pair of pliers. I think I learned that from JVB. Or the Hall o' Wisdom. Then just leave the zip tie on for next time. :thumb

I just use angled needlenose pliers to remove the plug wires. :dunno

Actually, I had the wire puller. I didn't have the long, deep socket necessary to reach the plug. Nobody in town had a socket that would work except my local BMW dealer.

Can't say enough good things about my experience with Beemer Boneyard; ordering the service kit was easy, and delivery was prompt. :D

It is mounted in a different cowl on the front of the lens. I'm not completely happy with the LED I am using and want to play around with that a bit more. When I get it right, I may make up some mounting kits which I could sell off.

(legislation regarding motorcycle lighting gets very complicated and can be quite different in different countries, so which LED's can be used and how it is wired up may take some sorting out)

I could do that. Give me some ideas as to what bits you might be interested in. We are still exploring the potential of the machine so wouldn't mind a couple more projects to play around with.

Odds are that the slack has been removed from the cable on the side you loosened the nut. Make sure you have 1mm slack then sync.

PS Typically you rarely need to adjust the TB Sync on an R1200.

That's all good now. When I got home I re-balanced the TB's. Now, the only issue is rough idling when cold. Once it warm up it's fine.

Got a GS911 today. Now I need to learn how to use it. First two things I want to do are make sure my O2 sensor is working and make sure my TPS is set correctly. I'm not sure I trust how well I did it with the voltmeter. Can anyone give me the basics of how to do those 2 things with the GS911?

I also have suffered from a melted instrument cluster due to lensing by the adventure windscreen so I spent a couple of hours in the shop and fab'ed up a dash from scrap 0.125" aluminium to protect my melting tachometer!!
