Hey RR, Great news about your XT delivery next week! Please post lots of photos and a ride impression. I order two XT's back in November. My dealer didn't attend the California dealer meeting, so the order didn't get placed with Beta right away. ETA is May Any chance you'll make a sweet LED kit for the Beta headlight shell? I'd love a set-up like this. Bet other Beta XT, RR & RS owners would like it too - M.
If it can be plated here this would be my first choice for a new bike. Really sounds close to the play bike I'm looking for. I'd prefer 4T, but oh well.
on FB from Nicola La Rocca in Italy - “Today I was three hours around the woods. I turned in the undergrowth, on beaten track and I also found a lot of mud. Compared to the KTM Freeride is something else !!!! Ktm was almost a trial. XT has a great engine under full at low speeds and with a decent draw length. Good suspension, especially at the rear. Also forks seemed to me sliding. I would prefer the slightly more sustained. I will start to work on the setting. In any case, I found it better than WP KTM. Ktm probably had a very soft setting. Excellent braking system. The front brake is powerful and quite adaptable. The rear tends a little easy to get stuck. Compared to the KTM FREERIDE XTrainer is another matter entirely. Today I had fun as hell !!!! Is wonderful !!! But remember that I come from the Freeride. Maybe people used to Enduro racing might find it unattractive because it has a few horses and less on the fast feel a little less stable." Bravo Nicola!
Nice! Now it's a real bike with mud on the tires! A little tough to read through the translation, but this bodes well...I think Beta might have built the bike everyone expected the KTM Freeride 250R to be. Can't wait to read more reports once people actually get some saddle time on the X Trainer.
The Freeride everyone expected? What does that mean? Also I don't know what the esteemed Nicola is trying to say. Would be ideal if a straight up Freeride 250 vs Beta X-trainer comparison would be published. Until then being specific is important. Ted
Maybe "everyone" is an exaggeration. It seems the Freeride is much more like a big trials bike with a seat (based on existing reviews), while the X-Trainer is more of a scaled down enduro bike (from specs mostly). It seems more people who have been excited by the concept of these bikes have been expecting the latter. I agree, direct comparisons would be nice, and they'll come in time.
That looks like a KTM number plate, might be worth it to send them a shell and see if a 14 KTM squadron retrofit plate would work in it.
Yep, that is a KTM number plate. Shoot Chris an email if your interested chris at motominded.com My X-trainer is delayed at the port
I'd really like to feel the difference between the 300 Xtrainer and the Big Boy Beta 300. I would think a friendlier CDI map and softer suspension would achieve the same result. Im just being a know it all behind a monitor and I'm sure the Xtrainer is totally different. Perhaps like a well tuned KDX200 with quality parts
https://translate.google.com/transl...beta-x-trainer--beta-rr-300-enduro-motos.html compares the XT to the RR and identifies the suspension as the R16V by Olle. This is the most information I have seen so far on the XT next to the short reveiw by Nicola La Rocca. (If I missed something please let me know.) The translations are sometimes sketchy and leave me wondering about the design of the suspension. Does anyone know anything about Olle (Ohlin?)?
AFAIK, they supply forks & rear shocks, mostly for trials bikes... http://www.olle-amortidors.com/company.html More photos of the Hell's Gate X-Trainer... https://translate.google.com/translate?depth=1&nv=1&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=auto&tl=en&u=http://motonatura.blogspot.com.es/2015/02/la-beta-x-trainer-de-la-hells-gate-al.html%3Fm%3D1
I have just taken delivery of one of the first X Trainers in the UK, and will be out riding tomorrow. First impressions are good, nice details, decent brakes and a cooling fan. I have had a KTM 350 Freeride for 2 years now, so it will be an interesting comparison.
