If I do try to fit one I will post how it go's you are right they are quite bulky I thought a electric servo instead of vacuum should be smaller hens the ROSITER but there electric servo is still very large MC is in the proses of developing an all electric unit and I have spoken to them but they ester mat to make a fitment for a KTM would be in the $1800 rang it is probably the best but a little expensive for me I am also going to try one of the cheep throttle locks probably the VISTA CRUSE as the KTM has no end weights but dose have hand guards I am also trying to find a compatible GPS that communicates with my SENA intercom all this just to stop the possibility of drifting over the speed limit by a couple of Ks
Hey neilc just searching for something else and I came across this http://www.advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=307886&highlight=cruise+control&page=2 second page mentions the Rostra on 990.
The question was asked a couple of post ago wether the fitment of CC or even a throttle lock you would be covered by insurance if you had a claim so I made the call My insurer is SWANN and the answer was NO But that is because I bought my insurance online and it is at a special price. But if I had bought it over the phone or through a Dealer at a Dearer price it would be covered so my suggestions is if you have either fitted cheque with you insurer you may or may not be covered
I had cruise control on my GTR1000 -CCS AP50 - Loved it. Would have another one tomorrow, except that I haven't been able to work out how to rig it up on the R1100GS, which has the cross over throttle cable from left to right TB. Like most things adapted to bikes, they are a compromise. Whilst it may not be able to sense corners, (my car one doesn't either) and slow down, they are brilliant on the highway. Like most things, a bit of common sense is required when using them. Will be interested to watch and see how the electronic one performs
Rick I have had 5 BMW boxes never had CC though but on the first 1100 or on my 1100RS the throttle cable came to the left side and looped around the pulley and then went over to the right on that setup you would only need to put the CC to the left as it controlled the right but they changed that as it was prown to going out of balance I am not sour if the later ones have a split cable (fork ) or if the main cable still went to the left with a separate cable from the left to the right have a look at yours if it is the later once again you would only need to drive the left with the CC I do think the very latest RT have optional CC if you could find one have a look
Further to my post re insurance coverage if CC fitted I email my insurer Swann for conformation in writing it seams I was given the wrong information under My policy I would be covered with a throttle lock or a proper CC even a generic brand as long as it was professionally fitter trouble is not to many professional motorcycle CC fitters ?
