I know there's a ton of sporties on ADV. I'd rather see your modded-for-go bikes, but I'll take a looker too. I just think it's about time for another pro sportster rally. 883, 900, 1100, 1200 I don't care. I need ideas that don't involve more chrome, skulls or speedo-relocating. My new-to-me 1200r.
a word of advice - really ride the stocker before you get rid of the grandpa seat. The stock seat on those bikes is, by far, the most uncomfortable seat I've ever ridden. Really. I miss mine, but NOT that seat. Many of the aftermarket ones are questionable too - the mustang sloped too much forward, so you got racked in the junk on every stop. Comfy otherwise.
This bike is righteous. <iframe title="YouTube video player" class="youtube-player" type="text/html" width="480" height="390" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/GU6ZsTfuFa4" frameborder="0"></iframe> The grampa seat and I get along fine, just a damned thing to look at. My lady likes it fine too. I'll probably keep it around for her and longer rides.
I thought I heard the stock seat wasn't too bad... ? Anyway, got a nice deal on it on ebay. Looking for a duffle or something like. I keep coming back to the wolfman beta, any input on this? Other ideas that doesn't look like a leather keg? ....and where are these other sporties?! POST EM UP.
Had a grandpa seat on my old '91. Put on a Corbin because I hated the look of it. Corbin was pretty nice. I think the best thing to do is to throw away HD's lame excuse for shocks and put on some real ones! I have had two different Sporties, loved them both!
50 miles and I was in pain. 100 miles and i had tears in my eye. 130 miles, end of tank (on a REAL push day), and I could barely walk.
Well, you could start by getting some mid controls. After that, check out Storz Performance. I don't think they sell anything with skulls on it. http://www.storzperf.com/
