It's my turn to return the favor.

Sorry, man, that's the Lit degree talking. . .

Forgot about that guy. After 6 seconds of talking to him, I realized he was twice as insane as I am, and that no useful information was likely to come of the discussion. We had a LONG day that day, and if we wasted any more time with that dude, well..........

He was a genuine guy though. Certainly generous.

I used Maxxis Desert IT's for Vegas to Reno and Baja 1000. The tire was worn more after V2R (550 miles) because of the terrain, but it had a lot of life left on it. You can see my tire after Baja below (lots of sand whoops) but it could likely do the loop backwards and still have life left in it. I really like the tires. I'd need a good reason to try something else. Avoid them for the front though, they suck beans. If you get the 6 ply ones (what I used) they barely require any air.

I figured the engine size was proportional to the wear. A valid test would be the same mileage, machine, rider, but two different tires. a heavier bike would wear more with identical roost time. I don't mean to get all double-blind hoo-hah here, but, having said that, I do think formal logic should be taught in our elementary schools. I love the D606 on twisty pavement! if those other rubber ride slab well then i'm all ears! I did get 2000 mile and have 30% left over.

Neutral on the mirrors -- After I saw 'em on Kev's bike, I figured I'd follow the trend. :thumbup

Severeliously, I haven't validated the fold-downability by bashin into the scruboakies yet. I'm hoping the windshield breaks before the mirror.

Yes. I was using the parlance of our day.

Thanks for pointing that out...without you, "fixt" would go into all my business memos.

I agree 450 vs 650 you can not compare the tire wear, my 650 threw every knob off of those maxxis it and desert it tires. 606 lasted almost as long as the gritty. Hard to compare an apple and an orange.

Perhaps it has more to do with how hard you twist the throttle. My right wrist is notoriously weak...

DieselCruiserHead had 606's on his KTM 510cc bike, I had a new Maxxis on my 450cc KTM. Pretty damn close to the same horsepower, different torque. Anyway, the Maxxis outlasted the 606 on our 800 mile Colorado ride.

Just an observation. If nothing else, the 606 seems to cost a bit more too.

I don't think I can be offended. I know the status of a KLR and humbly accept it.:D

Just to be safe if every Utard could send me a 3 page apology PM I think I could sleep better. Maybe.

Okay, big group hug and I need to get serious about packing for La Paz.:rayof:rilla:happay:jump

    Nope.

    Everything is five-by-five here.

Prepping the GSA for the trip next week. I'm stoked that my GPS has the Mexican maps, too.

Meeting Andre today to check out those gloves.

    It's all coming together.
