    Well another First Ride of the year and Party is in the books and a good one it was. Thanks to all who showed up and joined the celebration. This years head count ended up being 4 hardy souls who got up, geared up and grabbed the handlebars. 16 more decided to take a more mellow approach by skipping the ride and showing up for the party. What a feast it was. A huge thank you goes out to Oremike and his wife for retrieving, cooking the Oysters and supplying the Oyster accessories. Mr Fisherman, Sorry you missed out on the ride but Thank you so much for helping Shelley get things set up and for practicing your incredible culinary skills. I've said it before but our ADV family is awesome. Lets have a great 2012

    Great video, Miguel! What are you using for a camera? How do you have it mounted?

    I have a Sony Bloggie Touch camera mounted in a custom cradle I fabbed up. It mounts to the handlebars via a Ram mount and peeks around the left edge of my windshield. The Go Pro is certainly more of a mainstream camera, but I'm not a fan of the fisheye lens effect they all seem to have. The Sony shoots in HD, holds 4 hours of video, and is very small.

    It's kind of a fun toy, cuz we can't ALL have on-board expresso machines like Fishy.. :D

    What's so funny? Nice picture of Oremike stealing someone's coat and Dansrc51 making another stealthy pass by the buffet.

    I sure am sorry I missed this gig.
    Saturday, I went to charge and start my bike (sheesh, I hadn't ridden it for like, 13 DAYS !! :eek1)
    It would not start, no click, no lights, no nuthin'.

    Then I remembered the last time I rode it, it would not start at the gas station with the bars cocked sideways, and until I turned the bars straight. Then it would just die at full cocked turn. Uh-Oh, got a pinched wire, or a short.
    Well, I finished the ride with Mustangshelly, with the theory that I would not turn the bars that far while riding :lol3

    Then I parked it and forgot about it.....
    .......while commuting with wifey for two weeks of very hard rain and/or very heavy morning frosts.
    Well, turns out that 5 of the 6 wires from the ignition switch were now completely BROKEN where they had been pinched while turning in & out of the frame for over 4 years. After following this harness deep into the bike's throat, back to a plug, I found this bike only uses two of those damn ignition switch wires anyway, and all is done through relays and such. That's how I got away with those pinched wires for so long.

    I figure this was all good practice for the April Fools ride;
    when I forget/lose my keys, and have to hotwire this sumbitch :lol3

    Since my Sunday was already a bust, I figured I'd do some of the farkles I had stacked up in the Garage.
    New stock euro headlight with new UltraVision HIDs. Holy Shit :eek1 Why did I wait so long ?
    Barely used Scott's Damper and BRP Triple Clamp with MUCH better handlebar geometry. Holy Shit :eek1 Why did I wait so long ?

    I missed the meet up last night, is there a ride for this week end? School starts Monday and it would be nice to ride with you F'n Fs before getting consumed by school again.

    For those future tripping I get the last week of March off for spring break, last years Crooked River Camp n ride was fun. I'd be up for something similar this year.:ear
