Moved here last year. Haven't had time to get out at all. Thinking about a ride up to payson then doing the rim road from 87 to 260. Is it passable by street bike this time of year? Any snow up there now?
Try the Tucson thread next tine or just look up the road conditions on the ADOT web site. Until they get heavy snow, the paved roads you asked about are open pretty much all year-round bike routes, just watch for ice at night. Up toward the rim , you can get snow, though the road is usually cleared quickly. From now til late Nov, sometimes early December, no problem.
If your going to ride the dirt road along the rim into showlow, it can be a bit narly this time of year. We've had a lot of rain and all the hunters are out on that road with 4x4s this time of year so it can be a bit rutted. Wife and I did it this time of year a few years ago. Go around Lake Roosevelt and up through Young. Great roads for 1200 and 800 gs type bikes even with the conditions I mentioned.
