LOL It's ostensibly for my wife- and after her wanting to get something that seated 5... ...and me talking about gas mileage cars- I agreed to look at the transit connect- and she promptly fell in love with the new Fiesta. Well, that issue and the matter of a car payment. We've been vehicle-payment free for a while- not sure I want to jump back into that.
If someone (Ursa-Minor are you listening?) would install a custom roof bed like you can get on the Honda Element this could be a near perfect vehicle.
205 I will wait until they start offering the long wheelbase vehicle, with the bigger engine. Then I just have to put up with it's looks. Dog, I miss my Astro.
No, a stretch model of the transit connect with a few more ponies and std transmission. I've had two ford full size vans, even with the six and tall geared they were gas hogs. In a year~ the ford euro transit van (sprinter size) is supposed to replace the econoline.
I would sooooo have a Transit -IF- it was available with a good little diesel (damn, how do spell diesle?). It looks fully capable EXCEPT for out on the open road at freeway speeds.
It's a funny old world really. We have Ford Transit Connects all over the UK and where I work too. You can only get them with a diesel engine and manual gearbox. They go plenty fast enough for a small van too. Check out specifications: FORD UK Webpage Pretty fugly though...
Hell, this website is predicated on unconventionally beautiful motorcycles (read: fugly to the rest of the world!). Why not a vehicle to match? I drove one of the TC's- super-sharp turning radius, easy parking, and seeming plenty of power to get into traffic, hit freeway speeds, etc. Then again, it was just me and the guy from the dealership, in an otherwise empty van- but it was kind of fun.
I'm not going to be in the market for a new vehicle for at least another two years but I did go and drive the Transit a few weeks ago and was all set to start saving my money for one... Then you just HAD to post that smut. I hate you.
