I posted this same poll at sportbikes.net and wanted to see the difference between there and here. The average is hovering around the 401-600 mile range there. I suspect there will be a lot more high mileage days here. Here's the link to that thread: http://www.sportbikes.net/forums/general-sportbikes/452377-most-miles-youve-done-day.html

THIS POLL IS IN MILES NOT KILOMETERS

Like the title says, what's the most miles you've ridden in a day (24 hours)?

Also, if you'd like, post details in this general format:

Four of us rode back from Daytona Bike Week. One bike had 135 mile tank range. Six fuel stops, one lunch stop, and one rain gear stop.

Eleven and a half hours total time for just over 700 miles.

Was heading back from San Diego and the plan was just to stay in Atlanta. It was in November and the weather was nice, cool, and sunny. I hit the Atlanta traffic around 6 and then headed North. I was going to stop and just get something to eat and stay there but was feeling good so decided to push it. The only problem was it started to get cold as the sun went down. But that kept me awake. Got home at almost midnight. The funniest thing is I was 10 miles away and a deer ran out in front of me. Luckily, it was already across by the time I got to it. Would have sucked to wreck after going that far. First and only time I've ever driven over 1,000 miles in one day.

40c (104f) for the first half of the day. Ran so low on fuel I had to blow air into the safari tank every 10km to pressurize it which forced fuel into the carbies. Got a wasp up my jacket at one point which stung all up my arm. Hit a locust plague. Eventful day.

504 miles one long day to the edge of Michigan and back. Rode back in the rain.

The KLR most unfriendly at those kind of clicks, even with a seat upgrade. But we did it and had fun.

    Hello, Honda Pacific Coast anyone??

Yeah, I want an Iron Butt frame as well! I didn't plan on doing a 1000+ mile ride in a day, so I never completed the requirements for Iron Butt. I think I will do one this summer through New England.

1396 miles in the CAL 24. Only good enough for second place. Several years ago. BMW R1150RT. Less than 100 of those miles were on the super slab.

I did an Iron Butt 1k thing a few years ago just to see if I could and to get a taste of endurance riding. It ended up being about 1100 miles in eighteen hours. I enjoyed the first 800 miles or so. It got progressively more unpleasant near the end.

The bike was my '03 Concours and the ride was from Marlborough, MA to Erie, PA and back.

In my more masochistic moments, I consider doing it on secondary roads with the Ural...

The most miles I did in a day was many years ago when I rode from Dallas to Seattle in 2 days on a shovelhead. It works out to about 1200 miles a day,

Going off of that experience I think organized endurance riding is silly and pretentious. I did that ride because of need and got little enjoyment out of doing it.

I find doing more than 450 miles a day spoils what I enjoy about riding.

Had a ball, was a great ride. Most miles I have done on the KLR in 24 hours is probably around 650 or 700. Though I usually consider 500 a decent day of travel unless I really need to be some where or am trying to get far enough ahead of weather to get a breather.

There are many things to enjoy about riding.

    Track days
    Poker runs
    Lunch rides
    Dinner rides
    Solo rides
    Group rides
    Sunday cruises
    Sunday back roads blasts
    Commuting to work
100 mile per day touring, taking in all the local sights
1000 mile per day LD riding

I like it all. Well, except for the bar-hopping rides. That doesn't do much for me.
