Hey, keep my Short Bus days outta this !! :d

Excellent, Welcome !! That's a big haul from Boise, but this is a good destination. You can come earlier if you wanna/can to make the most of your trip, the campsites are very nice, no nicer than nice, because they're FREE through the end of March!! I'll show Thursday sometime, maybe earlier, if the bug gets me.
Yaknow? I hope he is, well except the Buick part. I wouldn't wish that on anybody, except maybe that new Turbo car. Heck, he mighta even retired to China for all I know. I wish I knew....I'll even call him asrvivor if he shows!!!!

    Anutha Idahoan? Excellent!!
The trip is worth the effort, I believe. The Crooked River canyon is a beautiful place. My first time here was when Oremike suggested it 4 years ago, now. I was both blown away and mad at myself for never seeing it before.

I still have yet to make it into that lower section of the Ochoco NF, SE of the Prineville Res, it's always been snowy at the elevation in March still. Now I gotta go back later in the Summer.
I'll follow ya, Mr DS!! I wanted to go that direction with the big bike group last year, but I really wasn't in the mood for all the miles they ran, as it was my first ride on Punkin since my accident. Never been South of Bear Creek yet....

Is highway 27 paved down to highway 20? Does anyone know how far it is to the camping area from Highway 20.

Even though it is 7 1/2 weeks to this adventure, I am getting excited for it.

My latest shop project is a Moto-jack bike hauler I am modifying to fit on the front or back of my motor home as well as the rear of my Suzuki Grand Vitara.

I am looking to track down a Kendon motorcycle standup lift so if any of you hear of a used on for sale, let me know.

I just traced it out on Google Earth and I came up with 28 miles from HWY20. Looks like gravel for quite a bit of it.

Hwy 27, from just South of Prineville Reservoir to Hwy 20 is Oregon's only non-paved state highway. 4 years ago it was awesome hardpack dirt, now smooth high speed gravel. Should be good for motorhome travel, but I have not been on the whole route down to Hwy 20, so......good luck!!!

I don't know the exact milage, but an educated guess would be; from Highway 20 going North, 13 miles of wide good gravel road, then about 10 more miles paved to the campsite.
I was the caretaker at Surprise Valley Ranch on that road for a number of years so that's where my guess comes from!
You'll see the ranch on the north side of the road about a mile after it turns to slab.
    Beautiful area!

Edit: Riley is your last fuel stop unless you want to run into Prineville and Hampton Station has great food. :deal

Hell yes! I have taken the some of the boys and girls up to romp around the trails there both years! S1Marks had some cool video, Apple Jam had a blast last year, but ride was was cut short because we had to make a new tank gasket from an inner tube last year! Great spot to improve dirt bike skils and have a blast! Very close by! If it is snowing and wet. that is the place as the dust will be all gone...:lol3

    HAHA!!!!
Did you wheel that pumpkin in the house and take care of some maintenance yet?
That sprocket and drive gear needed some attention before you go galavanting off into the sunset young man!:huh

I repaired my broken bolt in the subframe, easy fix, not!
The Big Red Pig started first kick... had not started it since the Apple Valley Rally, not bad! I might even change the oil...maybe not?
Might have to change a tire, but that's gonna wait till it warms up...

I think I'm already packed, since all the stuff got put away after the AVR!
