My buddy has a 98 Montesa 315R. It boils over after not too long of riding. Has anyone seen this before? Do you think it could just be a radiator cap ? It's not like I can just run down to the corner and get one . Im open to sugestions. Once we fix this issue I think he is going to sell it.
Is the coolant topped up? Does the fan come on? Are the rad fins clear? Good gas? Plug tight? Reasonable jetting? Air leak around carb? Crank seals? Just a few ideas.
I had a 02 model and had the same problem. I ordered a new rad. cap and put blue ice antifreeze in it and all was good again. Never an overheating issue again. I can tell you however that you are not going to find t he cap at your local auto parts dealer will have to order it from a local honda dealer or Overland Trails in PA the guy there is Dennis. He is the man when it comes to Montesa's. Hope this helps
As I understand it http://www.lewisportusa.com in CA might be able to get you what you need, they do Montesa parts, not sure about a 315R, but might be worth giving them a call. Good luck!
