I downloaded the rtmpdump-2.4 and unzipped it....but don't have a clue where to go next.

What's it mean to place files in a map?

Hit : View ----- advanced control.
First record, you see the red record button in the pic i even wrote something to it "record to file", just push it, the surrounding become blue, then it is recording stream.
Recording file is in the folder ( i said map) my documents.
Snapshot image is in folder my picture , maybe wrong word again. my ........

in preference VLC you can set another path if needed.

2. rtmpdump
First there is not much need to use it know because most dakar tv program running from method 1 the playlist.m3u.

So making a folder as described.
on C: your harddisk example RTMPVLC and put these files in it. (your pic)

Make the string, you do not have to use (x86) that's 64 bit PC.

and make the path to vlc.exe.
On xp is this different, use windows program windowsexplorer to see the string.
"C:\Program Files\VideoLAN\VLC\vlc.exe" This is mine but xp is different

Same here. Parts of it had sound, most didn't.

Faaarking good coverage though just means I have to get up at 03:40 Aussie time to watch. Damn you Myway I was happy with Eurosport/SBS coverage until I saw this faaaark.
Now I am glad I did french 30 plus years ago, who would have dreamed it was so I could watch Dakar coverage on french TV whilst living in Australia
