I am about to check the valve clearance on my 08 950 SE. Is there a bolt with a thick washer (removed) will go into the crank shaft like on the 525, that will allign the piston with top dead center? If yes, where is it located?

    Thanks - gmtcm

Its been awhile, but if I remember correctly, it's the large head bolt horizontally inline with KTM the stamp. Forward of it. See that larger head ?

The bolt has a copper washer under the head.

Thanks for your reply. I pulled that long 8 mm bolt out and then tried to stick a longer piece of welding rod into the hole to see if it bottomed out a little further in. It kept going on through a long ways into the crankcase , so I'm wondering if that's the right place?

    Thanks - gmtcm

You must not be a TDC and missed the crank.

The copper washer on the bolt is very thin and doesn't seem like removing it and running the bolt in would be enough to penetrate and lock the flywheel?

You remove that bolt and use the special bolt ( slightly longer with a taper end) CJ sells them or you can make your own. Must be inserted at top dead center for each cylinder. If I remember right
