I passed a guy today on my Elite 50. He was doing 30 in a 35, so I passed him in a full tuck at 39 mph. Hilarious.
People get pissed when they get beat by a scooter. I can dust everybody through an intersection when at a stoplight. Puts a smile on my face every time.
Once again, I'm a hoodlum! I pulled out of my 'hood this evening onto a 35 mph road. Everyone goes 45, so I'm on always the gas immediately to get up to my 37 indicated, just so I'm not a traffic jam. An SUV pulled out in front of me tonight at the same time. He piddled along at about 30, so I ended up pretty close behind him. He didn't like it, so he slowed down to 25, then sped up to 60. Then he pulled off to the side of the road, let me go past, and followed me to the grocery store. He rolled down the window and yelled, "Hey, why you on my ass like that?!" I held my hands up like a jet pilot in a debrief at the O-club, and said, "I was trying to stay in your slipstream, so I could keep my speed up." that stumped him. He made a noise like "AHHH!", and drove off. People!
When I was riding my 80, I would try to use the same practices to keep up with traffic. This 150 allows a much more relaxed ride. Twist & go no matter the terrain or situation. The only roads I don't do are interstates.
Yeah, I'm looking for 125 or 150. Dealing with scooter sellers is a little trying though. In fact, I started a thread about it a few months ago. http://advrider.com/forums/showthread.php?t=719887
The neat thing about riding a small scooter is you can be a hoodlum and probably never get a ticket for it. Try being a hoodlum on a Hayabusa or GSXR and you'll end up in jail.
This is what I miss about my Riva. On a twisty road I would be at the speed limit and feel like I was hanging it out there. The same road the same speed on the Burgman, I cruising along at a casual pace.
