Ok ladies and gents, here's the dealio. My wife received a call from one of her lifelong friends and it seems that one of their classmates all the way from grade school up and his family are in need. They had a house fire and apparently lost everything. Now I know times are tough for everyone out there and I wouldn't expect anyone to put their own families in a bind for a complete stranger but if any of you can spare anything on the list, it would be awesome. As you all know, the holidays are coming up on us and there is a 5 year old girl in the family that doesn't need to do without. If we could pull together on this, it would make a families life a lot easier in these troubling times. If anypne wants to contribute via paypal, I will cover all the fees to make sure that the family gets the full amount donated. Will provide each and everyone one of you copies of the receipts to assure you that you didn't buy me a new bike :D . You can send it to tommyelrod@comcast.net, put Taurean in the notes or something. Thanks in advance you guys.

Hate to hear things like this, and it always seems to happen around the holidays. Let me see what we can do.

Don't have any shoes size 16 laying around though! :eek1

I have plenty of shoes and boots sitting around, some are even new but nothing close to a 16. So far I have one donation, I'm going to put some stuff up for sale and contribute what I get from that. It's bad around here as well but stuff like this just goes to show you it can be worse.

I'm always amazed at the power of many people doing a little to help.
How many inmates are there? 84,133 if i read the inmates page correctly. Assume 1% contributed $20 each:

    That's an easy $16,826

Even .01% contributing is significant. And $20 isn't even the cost of a tankful for a 250cc dirt bike. :deal

PM me an address and I'll give it to my wife. She'll get a check out. She's a sucker for things like this. Me, I'm hard hearted and it's like trying to get blood out of a turnip. We are blessed in my house, it sounds like that family needs a blessing.

    Check your pay pal.

I wish I could do a whole lot more, it's the best I can do right now.

Update us on the family and their current status if'n you don't mind, this has to be the worst time of year for something like this to happen.

    Good onya for steppin' up!:thumb

I was wondering who that was. Thank you and everyone else that has stepped up. I told someone else but I'm saying it again, it takes a hell of a person to help someone out that they don't know. Hope to drink one with you soon Billy. :freaky

    Dirtysouth,

This is DirtFun, one of the world famous Sand Fleas of central Flakistan. Please tell me about this Tellico ride you guys do. Is it a good trail ride or more of a KLR event (not that there's anything wrong with a KLR event)? I love to trail ride but not to savvy on the KLR stuff. I ride street legal :ricky KTM's so I'm ready for the knarly stuff -- well, except for deep water crossings :becca . Anyway, I've ridden my street machines up to Tellico Plains for the Cherahala Skyway many times and the trail riding around there should be excellent, if ya know where to point the bike.
I won't hold the ride back and even volunteer to ride sweep many times on the nasty stuff.
