I'm sitting in the airport in Costa Rica, bored! My flight out of Mexico City was delayed for an hour due to heavy fog, and i missed my connecting flight to Quito, Ecuador. You see, i'm on my way to rescue my bike! :clap 15 months ago i left the bike at a friends house in Quito and returned to Mexico City, living in Mexico and working in Vancouver. For the last few months i've been really sad! I just didn't have the money or opportunity to get my bike back. I tried to sell it, but all attempts failed. BUT, as luck would have it, i have a few weeks before i need to return to Vancouver, and my girlfriend talked to one of her friends who works for American Express travel and got me a return flight SUPER CHEAP!! So here i am, on the way to get my baby! The plan is to leave Quito in a few days after prepping the bike, and head down to Lima, Peru. Stick it on a boat and ship it back to Vancouver. Baby's :freaky coming home!!!:freaky

As you can see, this isn't ANY old '89 PD. I re-built this baby from scratch! Custom Chro-Mo sub frame, custom panniers, custom WP 4860 front end, dual plugged, ported and polished and nearly indestructible! Ride report to follow!

Best wishes on the recovery. When you get back can you provide more details on your chro-moly subframe? Would love to see what you did and how you did it.

Thanx! The WP 4860's suit the bike very well. Coupled with a fully adjustable Wilburs on the back, this is one of the best suspended bikes i've ridden :norton

I love those forks. I think they're the best forks out there for a dual sport that needs ~8" of wheel travel. There's nothing old school about the look of that bike!

How'd you like the dual plugging? Did you add that along with an increase in compression? Change anything on your ignition system?

Finally got out of Costa Rica last night as the sun was setting. I really do hate flying! Not so much the flight itself, but rather all the bullshit you have to deal with in airports. It's views like this that makes all the pain go away!

Costa Rica- Panama boarder at 30k feet.
So, i'm off to find my buddy. It's the last day of Carnival, so it may be tough, so wish me some luck! He was expecting me yesterday afternoon, so all bets are off.
The dual plugging is just that with two excell coils and the timing retarted 2 degrees. I get better mileage and a slight performance increase. It also helps burn the shitty gas down here.

How much do you anticipate it will cost to ship your bike from Peru to Vancouver? How long will it take?

Jezz you ve got a very good eye... if the bottom plug caps were not yellow i would have never seen them even knowing it...

Ron, i thought they would stick out a bit more... nice... which spark plug caps are you using? NGK? Also have you had issues with the plug wires getting caught into something...?Thx
