The Porsche Thread

I'm not a car nut, but I do like a nice Porsche.

My favorite at the moment is the 550.

There is something in the lines of this car that makes me smile.

There is a replica of the 550 running around where I live. Even as a replica they are still cool.

I had this for a couple of years while I was in Germany.

My favorite car of all time the 1988 Porsche 911 Club Sport

And that picture has just about every single one sold in the US.

A friend of mine calls me one evening

She's got a flat on her new boxter

There's no spare

She has to call the dealer in Tampa to come and pick it up

I take her to Tampa the next day for the car

The bills $750.00

For two new tires

Can't replace just the one

but the towing was free

Yeah, that picture was taken at the US customer delivery picnic. Beer and brats.

Ah yes, the high performance sickle bar option. Very rare, cutting edge technology. Directional reartires....

I've got to honest here. I have two 911s. An '86 Carrera and an '00 Carrera 4.

If I had it to all over again I wouldn't have bought the C4. It's nowhere near the car the '86 is in terms of being a "Porshce."

The "Porshce" experience is what it is all about.

A friend of mine owned a Porsche 550A Spyder back in the mid 1970's - it had a flat fan 1750cc motor that made around 170 HP in an 1100 pound car. With the "airport" gear set in the transmission this car was incredibly quick.

He set fast time of day at this autocross even with a 360 degree spin in the middle of the course. I could have bought the car in 1978 for $6500 - its worth around $650,000 now...dammik





I'm restoring my 1956 Custom Carrera right now - trying to get it done in time for the Amelia Island Concours next March:

I always liked the look and smooth lines of the classic 9111s

My favorite is the '75 911 Carrera Coupe.

One of my bud's had one in white. Very nice.

Have had my 77 930 since 77. Still a kick in the ass to drive!!!! NO polution crap!!!! Switch the boost limiter off, it is a real blast!!! Still can't load pics!!!

This year's featured marque at the Monterey Historic Races is Porsche. I went the last time they were featured and they had most of the historic cars from the museum and many 917s and 962s in the field. Good times, check it out
