I had to work for THR at the SCORE Baja 500 ( finished 1stOA )
Besides I have been building a few bikes to compete in a few other races.
maybe some of you have heard of them?
Vegas to Reno
Baja Rally II
Score Baja 1000

I will be racing in ALL three events
so I will TRY to get up dates from JM and EV along the ALCON trail

I am REAL SORRY that some of you think I skipped out
but Projects like this take time and we are only 1/2 way done with this one.

YES I would like to THANK all the people that have helped us.
BajaDad,
I actually learned some useful things from this thread.
But when someone starts a "build thread" everyone expects the OP to share the details of the build, documentation of the process, and many photos that show the actual build etc.
There are many other threads in ADVRider (and other forums) with that 'custom build' title, and they more or less keep up to the promise, at least the good ones.
It seems that you have used this thread mainly as a marketing tool for your commercial projects but did not deliver any concrete details other than names of components you used. It had some teasers and generic info, I can't really say it is a 'build' thread. More like 'hey, I have this cool heavily commercially funded tiger'.

All the best,
Bigman

Please show me where I said this is a custom build?????
this is not a FRANKENSTEIN bike

This Build was to help the Avg Tiger owner see what could be done to his or her 800xc

NO where did I say I would post step by step info or Pics
Sorry If some of you think I owe you more.
I guess I missed the class on how to post a Build thread.

I will post about the Alcan 5000 as I get updates
This has been a blast building and Riding the Tigers to there extreme

Countdown to (Mecury264) response, including quotes of each time BD has indicated more information would be forthcoming soon ...
(not necessarily how-to or pics, just the statement that something else would be posted about a particular item)

Read the whole thread and that's NOT what I got, I just enjoyed reading along as some bikes got built and raced. Thanks for posting BajaDad.

Talking build or not

As a guy who has whipped across the desert for a few minutes at a time on a tiger, I salute ya BajaD for getting out there and competing on a bike that really wouldn't be my first choice to use. Would I like to see more info on the builds? Sure.
Maybe after the season is over, more pics and details please?

When someone says "Baja Tiger 800 XC build" it by definition means a custom build, since it is cannot be any other kind of build. Is there such a thing as 'Stock Baja Tiger 800 XC build'?!?

I have a lot of respect to your project, and racing, and learned from component list you shared.

But, be honest about the motivation for this thread - it was about creating buzz, PR, Marketing, sponsorship and ultimately about $$$. You're a busy guy, I get it. True, you don't owe anyone anything, but the opposite is also true - you're not immune to legitimate criticism.

Nothing personal here.
Good luck with your next race!

Whatever the motivation, I came away with a lot of ideas and learned more about what products are out there and could be done to my XC.

Yep, without sponsor money we wouldn't have seen our Tiger raced. I'm happy with what was presented and available for the 800 XCs. Would like to hear a breakdown on the suspension options he tested some time though...

Sweet! Would love some photos when you have time. If you're busy and its easier to have me post them, feel free to email them to me and I'll handle it. I figure if you are doing all the hard work building and racing the bikes, the least I can do is pitch in and help.
