If your old enough to ride on the street, you already missed your chance. Motogp riders (and almost all successful racers) get their start when they are children. Take some track days, go club racing, and marvel at the skill that motogp riders possess.
Ride faster until you crash and break some bones that most people would consider "major". Like a femur. Or pulverize a vertabrae or 2. You could get by with just dislocating your spine from your pelvis. Then go see a doctor who, if he speaks English at all. learned it as a second or third language. Have him slice you open and insert rods, screws, pulleys, cables, plates, and/ or superglue. Then go race again in 10 days.
maybe you could start by actually racing a few races and see how you fare compared to others and see where you stack up. if you win everything in sight, then you move up. repeat till you get to MotoGP. if you don't win everything at any point in your ascension, stop there and reconsider your plans.
Winning any motorcycle race requires a lot work. Who really needs that? I suggest you get jollies by trolling on the internet.
Note the age of the racers at the top of their game. Next note your age. If you are older, be happy with club racing. If you are a little younger, be happy with club racing. If you are a lot younger, find yourself a 250 2t (either KTM or Aprilia) and go racing. As another said, you should be winning everything you enter. If not, enjoy club racing. I do not have very much road racing near me, but I have watched 3 riders climb the ranks in off road racing. All 3 are AA riders and all 3 get help of some kind or another from a factory. They all still have FT jobs as their racing does not pay any bills, the factories just make it a little bit cheaper to win. Be happy at the club racing level.
and to add..... In order to compete at any level you see on TV, you have to have either an AMA or FIM pro license. You cannot just buy one of those. You earn it by racing and winning your class. You advance, win those races and advance again. To get a pro license, you should not only be winning, but should be dominating your local races. Learn to enjoy club races.
Just read the bio's on Moto3 guys. They all come from wealthy families in different countries. Literally, the only way to get into any big-time professional motor/powersport is have very deep pockets. Hell, even amateur racers are having a hard time keeping up nowadays with all of the restrictions, regulations, and rule revisions.
Eggssactly. Money helps a lot, but talent gets you the attention you need. Don't know OP's age but if you're over 20, then forget it. If you're 15, then roughly it would go something like this: - 1st go out and dominate national Moto3/125 etc. series (win almost all the races). Best would be if you go to Spain or Italy and compete in CEV or CIV series. With that you'd get most attention from the GP-teams. - Next year jump to 600 and do the same for 1-2 years. Look for teams that runs in CEV or CIV series as well as GP-series. - If you're really special at this point, you might get a wild card in Italian or Spanish round or test with Moto3 or Moto2. Then finish top-10 in your 1st race. - Next year land a seat with GP-series Moto2 team and finish the season in top-10 points overall. - Next year win the championship. At this point you might be considered by a MotoGP team, most likely by a satellite team where you'd need to bring some sponsor money with you.
