Anybody know of a aftermarket gas tank? I picked up an old 1981 KL250 with 1500 miles on it. Cleaned the carb fired right up. My problem is the gas tank is shot. I have been trying to find a rust free replacement with no luck. Some clown on ebay wanted 400 ( you still can order new ones but at a price 240 to 280). I was wondering if I had any options like different model tank that might fit? I don't want to pay 240 for a tank as I bought the bike for 150, The stock tires look new just the tank is rusted out.

    KLR250, perhaps?

I believe Clarke once cataloged such a tank, but--don't see it listed now:

You might ask them if they have something left over from old stock around the plant, or something adaptable.

Then again, I imagine you can order a new OEM tank from your Kawasaki dealer.

    Or,

Don't know where you are in NW Montana, but I'm in Missoula and have several old tanks sitting around you are welcome to try. KLR 250, XT225, and DR650 tanks.

Sure, give me a shout next time you pass through. I'm retired and a college student, so my schedule is pretty free. I live just off 93 North about two miles north of I-90.
