Who's got the Caponord Tubeless Rim setup for their Adventure?

Anyone here have the Caponord rims on their adventure? I'm looking for a set of tubeless rims for my 990 and thinking of a set from Woody. I read a little after searching but there aren't many posts about using these rims.

I like the idea of a stronger Excel rim, but I'm not sure about the sealing process holding up and wondering what you do if you need to tighten your spokes down the road? Seems like a true tubeless rim would be the way to go.

Any opinions or experience?? TIA

I've had Caponord wheels from Woody's for the last 8000 miles and love them.I would not have bought the Adventure without this option. I don't
like the Idea of sealing tube type wheels.These wheels are true tubeless.
The wheels are a work of art.There is alot of extra work that goes into
building these wheels. Go on Woody's and he has great pictures of them.

I had them on a 950 Adventure and I now have them on an SE. So far they are great.

You had them on an ADV? Not anymore!

So I know they aren't the end all for serious dirt, but I'm hoping they will take at least a moderate amount of abuse. I smacked my GSA rims around and they held up well through high speed potholes and rocks. I know they aren't excels, but the caponord wheels aren't butter soft or anything, right? With the superlace and oversize ss spokes they ought to be better than BMW stockers??

I'm not gonna run street tires, but I'd like a set of 19"/17" tubeless dualsport rims for everyday use that won't fold if they take a hit or two on fire roads. Planning on running tourance, anakees or TKC's on them.

Then get my stock hubs relaced to a 21x1.85 tubed A60 front and sealed 18x3.5" rear for trips that are harder core dirt and run the 908/606 combo on those.

I think you have pretty much nailed it right there. Chris at Woodys says the rims are as good ( or bad ) as the GS rims and will be stronger with the superlace. I haven't punished mine, but they seem to be holding up to dirt and chatter box gravel roads at speed.

I run the Tourances. I can cross this state or multi states, ride gravel/dirt roads for a couple of days, and then haul ass back home. It works out great for me. With no mud of course.

While riding in Argentina a couple of years ago, I met a guy who
was riding a Caponord. We were staying at Dakar Motos.
He had hit a pot hole from hell, so hard that he had destroyed both the
front and rear tires and blew one fork seal.
The rims, which I inspected closely, were undamaged.
I think I'll go with a set of Woody's SL.

I got mine from woodys last thursday, with the Rad hubs.

The pissing rain and wind haven't stopped since.... so i have not abused them yet.

60 miles in the dry, then heavy rain, running bridgestone battle wings, heats up well , very good in the wet!!

Weather forecast better at the end of the week so i will be riding the ass off it all weekend. pics and email to woodys wheel works will follow, lovely lovely looking wheels.

Anyone care to share what a setup like this costs? Stock hubs reused or new RAD ones. I might be looking for a 19/17 setup in the future.

I haven't got a final price from Woody since I haven't made up my mind, but Caponord wheels can't be cheap. Probably like buying BMW rims. I'm sure with the full monty they will be close to $2500. I think there's some work involved getting the superlace done and the wheels I've had from Woody before were great.

Oh man they look good on the 990S there.

Just got back from an all road trip through TN and I would have loved to had a set of those wheels on the ole S with some premo street rubber on them.

May have to send Woody my stockers and have these built up. I have a set of his Sun's that I always keep the TKC's or Deserts on and the Capo wheels would round out the entire package very well.

I was wondering if anybody makes a tubeless rim strip setup like they have for mountain bicycles for motorcycles? Seems to me that it should'nt be that difficult, and if not why not-discuss.

and I thought I was finally done spending big ticket item money on my 950.... I assume we're talking over $2k here (including hubs so i can swap wheels)? May take me a bit to save up for those but -

I love my new 17" setup. Handles great and looks sharp IMO. 100% tubeless.

All said and done 3 new rotors and sprocket, minus tires it's about $2300. Tires were $170 shipped.

I now have a complete set, fully swapped in 35 min. and I have an entirely new bike.

I thought I saw some pics of that somewhere but I could be wrong? Did you post 'em in another thread? If not, how about it?
