You'll find the best music at Bluegrass festivals in the campground! I rarely go up to the stage for the festivals I attend.

Tarkingtons Country store outside of Nashville, has Bluegrass Pickings every Saturday around Lunch. Neat place for mild dual sporting & pretty scenery.

thanks for the tip! I'm only slightly familiar with Nashville...got to listen in at the Blue Bird once, a couple of shows at the Ryman and late night coffee at Coco. Playing with Mapquest to plan a trip from 78130 to 26505, it'd be nice to thread through Nashville....

Here is the new tag for ya'll to ponder, and hopefully to ride to...

    Here's the tag photo.

According to some records gas and oil well drilling in the United States started in West Virginia in the early to mid 1800's. The oil and gas was discovered in the 1700's. George Washington was said to have purchased around 250 acres in West Virginia because of this, and could be one of the first oil and gas speculators in our country.
At one time these oil derricks, at that time made of wood, littered the hillsides of some of our communities. Some of them only had to drill 100' deep to strike oil or gas. At first the pipelines were also made of wood.

    It is here...

Well I finally grabbed my first!! It was a nice ride today, perfect weather and the moons aligned such that I had the day free to ride.

    Here's the money shot

It's right across from the Roane Co. DMV which is funny because I have gone there several times (because Pburg is a PITA) and never saw this park. I searched for it all over the web lastnight and felt silly when I finally figured out where it was at! I actually took my motorcycle licensor exam exam there two years ago.

    bholmes,

Congrats on the first tag. Invigorating, intoxicating, and extremely habit forming. :deal Probably sent many a good man (and woman) to Rehab and Therapy.

Arvilla, huh? Surprised you didn't grab the Clay Point Church a few weeks ago.

Well, I'll let'cha go so you can pick a good spot for the new tag.

Whoooo I laid down 198mi on the KTM today. My butt feels like I just got outta prison! I found a really cool place for my first tag I think. I didn't see that it had been used before and it's cool on many levels so I hope you enjoy. (much cooler in person than the pics by the way)

A side note, i'm not sure if the trails around there are allowed to be ridden on or not.....but there looked to be a few dirt trails around the park entrace that it looked like four wheelers rode on. SOooo it might be fun on a dualsport to....

Pnoman- I live in parkersburg now, I was dying to get one of those tags as a first (there was the willowisland one too). But I am in grad school in charleston and by the time I was able to ride up that way they'd been nabbed. And you're right, this is addicingly fun!
