See, if they built a modern version of the bike in the background (99), I would be VERY interested. Looks like a '48 big base scout. The LAST real scout made by Indian and only made to race at Daytona. Do I care that it won races? No. Do I dig the looks, yea.

Light, clean, and a great performer for the day. Make one uncluttered and I would be in.

I'll have to see it in person, but from the video the finned valve covers - emulating the old flathead - looks kind of cool. Maybe it'll be called the finhead.

I'm sure the basis of it is, not that there's anything wrong that.

Hmm. Side by side single crankpin, off set cylinders, unit construction, air cooled, pushrods, 2 valves per cylinder, a wet clutch, looks like a combination of old and new. Also looks and sounds lot like the original Indian v-twin. One thing it is definitely NOT is an S&S Harley clone, but it is not some futuristic high tech sport bike motor either. Should be perfectly fitting for a cruiser. Now it remains to be seen what they put it in, and what it costs. If it costs $40,000, it will be completely worthless and meaningless to most riders out there. The days of Harley clone chopper companies selling custom choppers for prices like that are long gone. I hope Polaris realizes that. One thing the original Indian (or Harley) were NOT were prestige brands. I still say Polaris needs a smaller bike to compete with the Sportster (WITHOUT it being a copy of a Sportster)

Engine looks great! Glad it's not a Victory engine or an Evo clone!

No, it'a S&S X-wedge clone, but with paralell valves restricting valve size and thereby power.

Hmmm. Had to go take a look. Other than the Vee angle differences of 49 vs 56, this new Indian's engine internals do resemble the S&S X Wedge.

Three cams, parallel pushrods, one piece crank with plain bearings...

It is a different angle than an X wedge, had unique heads, so the cam profiles and cams will not cross, crank has different balance etc. Yes, it has a lot on common, there are only so many ways to skin a cat. There will be little parts crossover, and I would bet it makes a less power too since it the heads have exhaust ports designed for nostalgia, not optimum for flow. It does look to me a prettier engine than an X wedge

Guess clone was to harsh, but the three cams are pretty much the same so let's say it's a genetically modifyed clone :lol3
Also a unit construction, the S&S is not by the way.

The new motor will power 3 new models. From my source, the lowest cost model will be under $16,000. Not cheap, but a hell of a lot less then their previous bikes.

If that's the case, then they've got a chance. Especially if the product is competitive.
