He's basically offering a bribe to get out of his bribery charge. He's quite good at this, isn't he. Jim
Making restitution to the bank which sold F1 rights for less than their full value, because Bernie bribed their representative.
Nico has a point but in reality, it's not clear to me they can do anything except by banning pit-stops until after everyone has formed up. Which would ensure that the entire field was trying to pit all at once. It is not as though they can wait to announce the safety car once it's needed.
Does anyone have good pictures of the podium cars in parc ferme after the race? I would really like to see some clear shots of Alonso's soft compound tires after 32 laps (31 of them at race pace). Of course, they are probably so covered in clag it will be tough to see what condition they were really in.
I think this is inherent to being a truly great driver or rider. To operate a vehicle at it's absolute limit, you must really believe you are the best. Some handle this massive ego better than others.
Today is the 38th anniversary of Lauda's horrific crash at the German Gran Prix. Not a big Lauda fan, but it took a lot of guts for him to get back into a race car after that.
Money is the answer! Ironic that you get away with Bribery if you have enough money:huh?! Everyone else.
James Allen's blog has an interesting piece on Ferrari's review of operations under new boss Marco Mattiacci. The head of engine development has already been fired. Here are the highlights of the review. For those who believe F1 contributes nothing to street cars, read the bit about the hybrid technology.
I can't tell whether paying the payoff would stop the criminal prosecution, or only get the bank off of his back.
Hmm, I think Khazakstan doesn't have an extradition theory with most of Europe. Maybe that's why Bernie placed a race there .... EDIT: Doh, race is in Azerbaijan. Who's going to google: Azerbaijan extradition treaties....
After reading the Wiki on Azerbaijan, I wonder if the money Bermie's offering the Germans didn't come under the table from the corrupt Azerbaijani government?
