Who thinks Mayfield was stupid enough to use meth after a successful court decision that reinstated him? http://www.nascar.com/2009/news/opinion/07/17/inside.line.dcaraviello.jmayfield/index.html
Racing is generally considered sport. It seems odd to me. Years ago, a lifetime ago really, I had a pretty serious habit. Even then I wouldn't do it if I had reason to believe that I'd be tested. Maybe my habit wasn't as hardcore as I thought, but I think NASCAR is lying and fabricating test results in order to save face.
I don't. I think the guy is a Meth Head in denial. (See Robert Downey Jr., David Crosby, Redmond O'Neal, and any MLB player who's been caught since testing started. Not all Meth, but all druggies who will lie, cheat, steal, and lie some more to keep the addiction alive). I don't think NASCAR's saving face. I think NASCAR might just be saving the guy's life.
How about Mark Martin? If the Chase started this week, Martin would start out in first place due to his four wins. Kyle Bush has three wins and would be ten points back in second. That would represent quite a jump in position considering that they are 11th and 10th in the points respectively. The Chase cutoff is the top 12 drivers in points following the 26th race. 19 races are in the books.
we will never know the truth. the france family is so fucked up in the head and runs nascar like shit. they would never say they messed up the results and own up to it. ofcourse they will shit on jeremy to save themselves any bad pub and get him out and far away from the sport.
This proves that "The Chase" is stupid. It's got a scoring system that makes figure skating look like tether ball, it makes the regualr season less relevent, and it fabricates a playoff system that is transparently contrived. But it'd be cool to see an old timer like Martin have one more day of glory. Kinda like Tom Watson at the British Open this week.
I'm with you on the Chase. Many fans hate it. And I think it would be very cool for Martin to finally win a Championship.
I wouldn't assume that means anything more than she is not in a position requiring testing. You could very well be right. I can see him being a tweak, nothing unusual about that. But I would not be surprised if it's bullshit. I don't think NASCAR has the credibility to police itself.
I'd hope there is something very unusual about that. I'd like to think the guys racing at 200mph weren't up the night before cooking their Claritin D with pseudophed on a hot plate back at the RV.
That's the story his stepmother told NASCAR. She said that when he first started doing meth, he was cooking his own, and that he later started buying it. There was a kid in the truck series that was doing heroin while racing.
I used to be a huge fan , I haven't watched two minutes of a race in the last couple years. The have that series so fucked with that stupid car design , and the way that Hendrick motorsports ownes half the cars in the field! As far as the Mayfield saga , it is hard to tell what the truth may be. On one hand , why would Nascar single out a backmarker , a guy that was good enough to win in a penske ride years ago. But the fact that he has been tested like 17 times and the only two times he tested positive were when he was tested by Nascar's DR Black? Something doesn't add up there either. Time will tell , but they are gonna lose alot of interest due to the way they have fucked up the racing. they hardly get 25 laps in any more , they throw a caution to bunch up the field. That is what happens when you let your sponsors control the event , they want more air time at the expense of the race. Go watch the Rolex series , great racing and very interesting footage.
rarely are Rumors wrong. they start with something. but usually get all blown out. but for that...the initial call is usually spot on. even if nascar is fucked up (and it is) they stand to gain nothing from this. so why would they concoct a scheme to blackball this guy? surely if the first test was screwed up they would save face and try again. dragging this all out serves them nothing. my thoughts are he's a tweek. nascar just did a poor job of controlling the situation.
One of my biggest complaints. They spend more time rolling around under endless yellow flags (what takes so damn long to clear?) than they do racing. Funny how there's always "debris on the track" near the end of the race.
I am a 25+ year fan of NASCAR and I admit its Glory Days are behind them but it is still better then IRL or F1. Whether you like Jeff Gordon or not he is one talented driver. Tony Stewart and Kyle Busch can win in any type of racing they choose to be involved in. I do find that I watch the Truck series and the Nationwide series more then the Cup series. The highlight of the year has been Mark Martin winning and I honestly despised him in the '90's My opinion on Jeremy Mayfield is using and has a problem. He says he has been tested 17 times NASCAR hasn't said they have tested him 17 times.
Speaking of Gordon, what with his back problems and Hendrick's desire to get the promising young Brad Keselowski signed, I'm going to go out on a limb and predict that this is the year that he hangs it up.
