I'm considering racing the Desert Challenge and looking at options of shipping vs renting. Anyone know of moto rental options for Abu Dhabi Desert Chllenge?

Definitely be worth talking to James West of Dubai based Moto1.

Well it's just a call away isn't it.

First off they have never had 690's or 450rr for rental but converted exc's .

I am sure there is alway one or two companies doing bike rentals.

Is "they" referring to a specific company going to the Desert Challenge?

Yes they being the companies which have put bikes together for commercial purposes for the DC.

Generally a mix of Honda's and KTM's with a variety of kits.

If you need some contact hrs just pm me.

Sent you a PM a while ago.

I was hoping to find a UAE based company to keep expenses low. Moto1/James West can't help. I haven't heard anything back from SRG.

HT Honda looks to have a good program but out of my budget. Based on last years proposal it'll be around $25k.

Seems I'm running out of options. Anyone else have know of other options or have suggestions?

Really prefer a UAE or GCC based company as expenses for anyone outside the UAE/GCC are considerably more due to shipping and insurance requirements.

Must ask to a friend who lives around there (a guy who did a few Dakar in the past but still active as I see on his FB page). Let you know asap if he replies

Well that'll be problematic since only KTM UAE has done rentals in the past, not sure if they still do (I'll check that for you). The other local tour operators only have stock enduro bikes. Maybe give Gecko Moto a shout, they may have something available.

Otherwise, if you can get your own bike to Europe, you can return ship it to UAE for around $1200, I can help you with that.
