I noticed there is at least 3 inch of space between tail light assembly and the rear rack (coocase trunk is mounted on top of it). Did anyone put a small bag in the space? I could keep bungee cords etc in it.
I installed one of these from Touratech in that space, works well for bungees and a few tools. I think Wunderlich and Givi make their own versions also. Here's a crappy picture of the bag installed, but it's the best picture I have of it.
I have the Wunderlich "Boxer Bag" and I keep a small electric pump and various tools required to repair a puncture in it. It's more water resistant than water proof.
I have build a small secret:huh compartment under the rear fender. Painted black for 2nd key, document and emergency cash in a water prove bag. 5"x4"x1.5"
I had the same Touratech bag on a 2011 GS. It was made by someone else, and you may find an unbranded model out there. The price goes up with a "touratech" banner sewn on. No, not waterproof but for me it worked very well. I kept a 300ml MSR fuel bottle with oil and some rags in it. I don't recall if an entire quart oil bottle would fit. As Jim von B points out, it doesn't fit the current model GS. If it did I would have kept it for sure. PS: jdub great photo!
Thanks, taken while out exploring Michaux State Forest last weekend. A good day to have knobbies, and a fun ride.
