Got anchored by a piece of fence wire hiding in the mud that got stuck to my brake caliper. No wonder i came to a sudden stop.

My research says that these are current for FE-570 / 450 / 390 (2010-2012). Obviously, you can change the "final" gearing to any sprockets that will fit without chain interference. Different combinations may require different chain lengths.

    Good luck.

I wouldnÂ’t think about modifying gearing until youÂ’ve got a bike and settled in with it ...

    Hip - Hip - Hooray ! ! ! [IMG]

My warranty replacement fuel pump finally arrived........3 weeks to the day.

    Sheez!

Its definitely the new style, brown topper:

Husaberg USA (if there is such a thing) wouldn't let the Dealer send me another (original) black-topper. They didn't have any browns; thus, the delay. One had to be sent from the Mother Ship or some such....somewhere.

It came with the entire hose and filter assembly, just like this original (bad version) which was gutted from inside the tank. :clap

You can see there is a nice, fine mesh, filter basket at the bottom of the pump surrounding the intake port. This whole apparatus is squeezed inside the black plastic cover/basin which can be seen in first two photos (above). Ain't no sticks & weeds getting thru that screen. So, I gladly removed my fancy filter sock which I had installed at the gas cap (in the filler neck). Man....that thingy was really getting irritating to me, what with the slow fill, back splash, & all. I threw it in the trash can. Alas...more dollars wasted. Such is life. :tough

Now, you can also see a big fat hunk of plastic filter apparatus in the fuel line which happens to be on the discharge side of the pump. Here's a better close up:

Those numbers say: 18.12.09 Not sure if its a date or a model.

Some more info on the other side.....here:

This appears to be a fine (small) micron filter, and I'm assuming it does a plenty good job of it prior to the throttle body, and thus, the fuel injectors. All of this stuff is hogging volume in the tank, by the way. We've probably got a 3 gallon jobber, if truth be told. I could be exxagerating.....its very late.....I just got my bike back together....I should go to bed.....but I digress.

Personally, I'm not sure why a bunch of Berg'etts seem to feel the need to add a fuel filter between the tank and throttle body. Based on what I've dug out of my tank and shown here, that seems rather redundant. But....what do I know? [IMG]

If you're going to remove your fuel pump completely from the tank (including attached lines and filter), then you have to deal with this new fangled, super duper, whizmo of a connector. Its a real stinker, to put it kindly. [IMG]

This should cost everyone one dollar admission to see.

Just try to figure this out on your own with the other hose stabbed into the middle. You can't tell for certain what is going on. But with half of the connection removed......Ah-Ha.

    See those tabs at 12 - 3 - 6 - 9 o'clock positions.......or 360 - 90 - 180 - 270 degrees, if your so inclined.

They push in (toward the outside diameter) like this:

Here is the profile of the clasp, so you can imagine how it locks in with the mating part: :evil

With the hose in the way, you have to came at them vertically from above. But, they can still be pushed in (one at a time) with a small flat screwdriver. Notice I said One At A Time? The four connectors are independent. So, you have to work on one, then the next, and so on. Push it in and pull the connector slightly to hold some pressure on the tab. Go to the next and repeat. Continue slowly all the way around the circle.....carefully wedging the coupler apart. I am not aware of any tool which would spread these four tabs simultaneously with a hose running down the middle (in your way). Don't know if this is the official proper way. Discussed it further with a Service Tech at Dealership who seemed to confirm, but I was never quite certain of his exact procedure.

LOTS of patience is in order....at least your first time around.

Back to my new fuel pump, this plastic lid was popping off just the same as before.

Because the tabs are too small &/or not strong enough to hold the case

So, the stainless steel safety wire trick was employed (as has been previously shown by others).

However, I only wired one side. That seemed plenty adequate to keep the lid on. It wasn't budging a smidgen anywhere around the rim, so I saw no need to wire the opposite side. This should serve me well compared to Cyborg's horse. I'll have a little weight advantage now.

    HF :thumbup

Oh yeah.....almost forgot: Fuel pump primed real fast and the motor fired right up. The whirl sounded better to me. I listened to it carefully. Its not as high pitch as before. Sounds more relaxed....if that makes any sense. Haven't test rode it yet, but it was running nice on the stand. Uber smooth! :deal

Big score today......at the local auto parts store. I added another slice to my pie of all knowledge, which is apparently severely handicapped.

I found this package of cheap plastic whizmos hanging on the tool aisle, while I was looking for a nice reversible set of snap-ring pliers. :huh

Something caught my eye....I simply don't know why....and I backed up the bus for a closer inspection. :eek1

Seriously, you've got to be kidding me! [IMG]

Well....If it didn't have such a tricky name, I might have discovered it sooner. :lol3

I bought it on principle alone. I'd be losing sleep over this, if I didn't.

There's a whole bunch of sizes to fit the different hose/connector diameters. Guess this fuel line connector really isn't so new fangled after all. How was I to know?

It fits around the fuel line easily.

Yes, I improvised for purposes of illustration. I only have one side of the connector line to play with. So, use your imagination.

Then, slide it down onto the tabs inside the quick connector like this:

Snap it down firmly to push (retract) those 4 tabs simultaneously:

Voila! Gently pull the coupling hose out of the connector while the Whizmo holds back the tabs.

PIECE OF CAKE! Or, so it seems.

I really wanted to try it on the new fuel pump connection, and had to repress the urge to tear my bike back apart tonight.

    Think I'll go ride instead,

    HF :thumbup

p.s. cost a whopping $9.47 at my local O'Reilly's Auto Parts.

When I stopped by our local NAPA Auto Parts store I spotted the exact same thing, but NAPA branded, also 1/2 price at $7.00 so I grabbed it.

Here's mine. Everything clears it and the cannister fits well enough into its place that it takes only one large tie to attach it.

The system came from Motostrano and was part number APAK-5. It came in generic packaging so there is a chance that they may be shipping something else these days. Anyone could make the same thing with some PVC pipe with end caps, brass connectors and some tubing.
