thanks guys, I bought a new micro card and put it in the camera and it worked fine. Put the old stuck one back in and it appears to work too. Problem fixed. Go figure

I'mhaving freeze issues with my hero 3 black
    I have a sandisc 64 class 10 car
d in it and I have read that some issues are due to bad cards.
How can I verify that my card is good?
I am getting close to bailing out on the go pro
It seems that for $500 with card and spare battery, that the thing ought to work!

I am in the same situation as you. My second 'scamdisk' 64gb ultra died over the weekend. There are tools to check sustained write speeds, but why bother. Would recommend a return/refund form place of purchase or filing an RMA with Sandisk here: http://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5232/~/return-material-authorization-(rma)-process

Am going to try the Samsung 32GB micro sd cards that RideFreak has had success with mentioned a couple pages back.

I am a beginner at this gopro gig ,

So I will prolly be asking some questions from time to time if yall don't mind .

    So with that said,
    Here is # 1 ,

I have gotten as far as getting footage off the cards and stored into my vidieos on my pc .

Is there a simple way without getting into editing to go to a certain point in a movie and grab a still photo so I can post here or other forums ?

How would I do that if possible ? :ear

And , if I do have to start working with an editing software ,

I need some recommendations on which 1 to use , :ear

The 1 for Big Dummies if possible .

All I really want is some stills, and maybe taking some bits and pieces out of vids and condensing . :ear

Thank You all for the help .

I use VLC media player: (a freebee)
    http://www.videolan.org/vlc/download-windows.html

It has a "snapshot" function... pause video>>right-click>>video>>snapshot

Snapshots can be png or jpg files, set it in:
    Preferences>>video>>>Video snapshot Format

I'd recommend going for the png format, the jpg compression is pretty poor....
(I grab png's then resize and save as jpg in a photo editing program)

    :)

Take a look at this link, you'll be able to see what app they are using, no reason you couldn't do the same tests.

    G'day All,

Reasonably new to the GoPro and just found this thread, thanks :1drink

Question to ask, Is the GoPro Hero LCD Touch Bacpac the latest for the Hero3 Black edition?

Here is my first video uploaded to Youtube, it is unedited and at 12 mins a bit long. I was riding my XR460/4 on the Scrapheap Adventure Ride.

Didn't see it fall but we stopped for water, and I noticed it missing. We turned and headed back the way we'd come, and my son spotted it on the side of the road about half a mile back.

I was planning to call GoPro and claim it under warranty but since I found it, I'm only going to claim the broken mount. The case doesn't seem to have suffered any from the fall.

Good first load, John. I've had my Hero3 Silver for about 6 weeks now and the weather here has just gotten good enough to get out and experiment with it.

A couple of questions about that video:

    FOV - medium?

Why are there 5 wheel weights on the front wheel of that bicycle? (1:30)

And last, please tell me the source of your soundtrack! :clap

    Medium FOV,
To offset the rim lock and valve stem (it's a Suzuki)

Just got an email about another update for the H3s. Bug fixes and new features:

    Narrow FOV for 1080p60 / 1080p30 / 720p60 fps
    Medium FOV for 720p60 fps

BTW, after the last update, I haven't had any lockups with my H3 black. Did a lot of video and pictures this last weekend in Moab:

Looking at getting a Hero3 Black Edition.

Sorry if it's been asked before.

I've been reading that the battery life is not the best.

Looking at using the Hero3 with a chest mount and was wondering if you can run it on USB while operating the Hero3. Planning on running a USB port in the tank bag for easy access.

    Thanks/Alan
