In the United States I was under the impression the black ones were not stainless. Why would they charge less for the ones powder coated?

of course you will receive a discount on the KTM one when buying a new bike!

Slightly different pricing in the UK (both inc 20% tax)

black powdercoated KTM branded: 210 (inc delivery to a dealer near you)
SS Touratech branded: 215 (plus postage unless you are near Touratech)

The KTM price makes sense given the :Euro exchange rate
Given the Euro price for the Touratech one, the UK price seems 'odd' .............

To change the subject a little...had a low speed flame-out the other day traversing a semi-steep off camber incline on my 2010 690 equipped with Rally Raid racks.

There wasn't any footing on the left/downhill side of the bike and of course, it fell that way. I was catapulted over the bike downhill and the bike fell on its left side so that the tires were in the air and gas was leaking out of the vent. I rushed to right it, swearing profusely. Thankfully the 690 is a relatively light bike and I heaved it back to rubber-down expecting to see all kinds of carnage.

To my surprise, the bike was fine. The entire bike landed on a rock at one small point of the Rally Raid rack. My Wings exhaust would have been annihilated, but all the damage that was done was a small scuff in the rack (easily fixed later with a fine file and some Krylon satin black). No bends, cracks or any other damage to the rest of the bike. Amazing.

I considered not running racks to save some weight. Not anymore.

Anyone have pics of the large Tractor Canister mounted on their side racks or the bike? I went with the largest size and just can't find the perfect spot for it.
I have the KTM hard parts racks and they sit lower and closer than the other types.
