my dad is selling me his 14' aluminum boat,20HP motor and trailer.anybody ever tow a boat behind their cycle?my 1500cc motor wont have a problem with it.im thinking of an outrigger wheel parallel with my rear wheel for stability.i was thinking of another cycle wheel to the right of my rear wheel and afew steel bars..what do you hack pros think?
If my mates Valk can haul a 1 & 1/2 chair and caravan, it'll haul anything! Dunno about the fuel economy though.
The one thing I regret with pulling a rig, is (CHEAP ASS BMW RIDER) saving that $100 dollars by not getting the trailer brakes. As I recovered the trailer from the brink of a washed away mountain roads 100' drop (trip home from the dragon right after Ivan) 1/16th inch per click with a rachet tie-down strap hooked to my K1200LT lying on its side as an anchor. Hey thats why they call it adventure
They make Goldwing car-towing rigs! The towing rig does use a dolly-wheel to prevent excessive drawbar loading. When towing a boat, it helps to use a trailer!
Hey I have seen a Valk pulling one of them A line pop up trailers.. From behind you couldn't see the Valk.. LOL just two helmets that looked like they where coming from the top of the trailer !!! oser I think as long as your on flat land No mountains .. It might be OK.... Other wise the push down hills could be a challenge... The heaviest either one of us has pulled behind our Valks... Mate had at least 600 lbs behind his Valk.. (two wheel) I have pulled around 780lbs behind mine .. But I have a trike... But lets face it as long as nothing goes wrong... All will be fine... If something could go wrong ~ The trailer makes it hard to recover from a mishap.....
Tracy, from memory Craigs outfits leading links were made by a local engineer Phil Duffy. It's amazing the difference a set of well set up l/links makes to a bikes handling, just like power steering. TDave
I bet ... My Trikes are just 4* rakes.... And they are a whole lot different then with out... That is one fine Looking Valk Rig ya have there !!! Don't ya just love the power !!!!
This one is my baby.... It has 122k.. and I'm rebuilding the clutch... Life and riding keep getting in the way buttoning it back up..:huh It have 15k on it when I bought it 5 yrs ago... This one I built this past year and have put 18 k on it so far.... Dang I just figured out, since Jan to now I have put 13k on !!! LOL... Now you know why I haven't put my other one back together !! I have been thinking of changing the looks a little on this one again... With some of that black chip stuff (Rhino.. bed liner).. And some big Piaa lights.... I do a lot of night riding.... I think I want it to look Big Bad n Mean..... Also the lever covers are no gone... Funny both are Valks with the same rear-ends and both ride completely different !!! My mate also has many Valks all two's... LOL I have been thinking of hacking one of them... Shhhhhhhhhh I haven't told him yet oser ....
norham,i pulled a pod (2 wheel camping style trailer)behind my 69 BMWR/60 in the late 70s.never cared for it though.after getting the boat home,i towed it with my 99 TOYOTA RAV4, and looking at it compared to my valk.the only way ill tow it is if i convert my valk into lady dracos 3 wheeler.thank you for all the advice and photos.
