Just got back from a little trip (ThrePly...where is that write up??)
Right as I turned onto my road the front went a "little" squirrelly
    Damn...flat tyre...and I wanted another 500 miles outta these

    Anyhow
    Check out this tyre wear

In a couple sports the center knobs are flat across and in some spots they are just fine. I particularly like how the very center guys wore

    Pressure was good.
I think it has to do with 5k + miles and racing that R1 (damn Biggins) home from work everyday.
I get lots of push thru the corners with both tyres :eek1

Getting new ones mounted tomorrow and a new front for the gixxer next week then maybe a new rear for the Gas Gas soon then another rear for the Adventure then...
I am not gonna add up what the tyre companies get from me :cry

The wear on my front tire looks the same...knobbies wear very stangely on asphalt.

The front on Elefant looks very much the same at about 3000 miles, maybe a bit less extreme....but the knobs have cracks at the base. The 'Fant weighs in about 90 lbs. less than the GS, and has much crappier brakes....

    Only to, rarely, slow down...

    I use them hard too
Like most folks I only use the rear for slow parking lot maneuvers and dirt

Are your shocks really tired? I've heard that old shocks let the wheels bounce a little more on the road and can cause wear like that.

I have 6000 mi on mine but they started that crazy wear pattern at about 4000. I just noticed from riding dirt bikes that any time you run a knobby on pavement you get tires that look like that. I might be wrong, but that's what I always connected it with - knobs aren't made with hard surfaces in mind.

    Keep on ridin'!

I have 4000 miles on mine, and am seeing the same wear pattern on the front. It has felt to me like the front end is a little light and it sounds like it might be bouncing a little. I ride with the Adventure bags on most of the time. I took the side Adventure bags off this morning, and the front end felt and sounded better. They may tend to lighten the front end with the drag at 80mph.

Went out and checked the sag after work. Using limits of 30 and 40% of travel, the front end was at 30% of travel and the back end at 40%. Since the back end was fully preloaded, I dropped the front end down to match it(one click). riding home the bike felt more balanced and the front end did not feel like it was hopping. It will take a while to see if that affects the tire wear.

had the same wear pattern on my last set. Got 13,000 miles out of 'em. They looked like crap but still felt good. Have a new one on the front and it is starting the same pattern at circa 17,000 miles. No matter what they look like I would not want to go without them.

Use a heavy front brake and you'll create something fit for Ripley's Believe it or Not.... :1drink
