Looking for the name of the peak, or even the lake that is nearby.



This pic was taken 1/4 mile from the first. The top of this hill overlooks the lake:

Hint: It's in Kootenai County, ID

Not Initial/Kilarney. It is a mountain lake, at almost 6000', a few hundred feet from the lookout. I don't know why I can't find any pics of the lake.

I really thought someone would get this right away! If this isn't on your list of normal trips to go on, it should be! Especially for you "big-bike" guys. Easy to get to (even by car - I've had an '82 Volvo wagon up there) and stellar views.

I'll take you here in the spring if you're up for it. The snow usually melts early here, and there is some sweet alpine single track I've been meaning to check out from this point.

Boise Peak...Mirror Lake. It's a guess. I spent some time on Google Earth. Even if it's wrong, thanks for taking us there. I found some new roads I need to explore.

Close enough! It is actually Latour Peak/Mirror Lake. Take the Cataldo Exit, head south on Latour Cr. Rd, it will turn to dirt and eventually cross a bridge. From the bridge, go 3.5 miles to a left on Baldy Creek Rd. (Not sure if it marked - it used to be. I think there is a wooden sign pointing to Twin Crags and Boise Peak) Follow the most travelled route and you should get there. Again, there used to be a sign at one of the "Y's" pointing to Mirror Lake, but I'm not sure if it is still there. I know the "Cataldo-to-St. Joe" ride via Latour Creek is on some of your radars, this is a fun side-trip on the way!

There is usually snow down by the lake year-round. Be careful if you ride up the trail that I am seen coming down. There is a shear 1000' drop-off at the top, straight down to the lake. :eek1 If you park at the switchback on the way to the lookout, there is a trail-head from there where you can take a quick hike down to the lake. I've seen a moose every time I've been down there.

I had a general idea where the peak was, at first I thought it was one of the lower hills near Black Lake then you said below Pinehurst I knew it must be one of the glassed slopes (from 1910 fire) or alpine grass. My map didn't have the peak name, but Boise Peak Road was right there. Anyway...

John and I took a week to do a loop around the Northwest, this fall. New pics. No trail.

Road Art. Name this small town, The art is just off the main road.

Clue #1...this small "town" is on a main road going east/west across the state. Actually, the hwy goes right beside the community. The "art" is on the main street (of the town) and visible from the hwy.
